I used it for sleep for years, It was initially very effective but required increases every 4-6 months. The bad side effect is the damage that the dry mouth causes to your teeth and gums after years of med use. You proabbaly want to talk to your dentist to avoid about 8K worth of dentistry down the road if you take anything that causes dry mouth the way Trazadone does. Initially it was a great sleep med without the concerns docs have about using tranqs and Benzo's.
Good luck, Dave

I use it for sleep. I have taken a half of a 100mg tab or a whole every nite depending on how groggy I want to be in the morning. I am in the process of getting about 50 grand of whole mouth implants due to the dry mouth syndrome. I had no clue, and the surg. told me that it was the meds that contributed so much~
It helps tons for sleep for me though, and I never had to increase it.

I started Trazodone for sleep help back in 1998. I quit about a year later. The one thing I remember most about that drug is that it made me so, so tired the next day, like to the point where it was very hard for me to function. I started with just a half a pill, too! But it was like that for at least 2 weeks, which was misrable for me.
I didn't like it, myself. I hate feeling groggy the next day. I've been using 3-4 capsules of valerian root to help me sleep and it's been working out pretty well. I don't think I need to resort to prescriptions any longer, because I think valerian root is just as good. I've also been known to take 2 advil pm or 2 tylenol pm if needed. Benedryl works, too.

I take effexor 112.5 mg for anxiety and 50mg Trazodone for insomnia. It seems to work well, but I have to take it with food, or I get congested (side effect). It took about a week to kick in.
