Just met with a new RE and my DH and I have decided to remove my fallopian tubes, which both have hydros, and do IVF.
Anyway have a laparoscopy to remove their tubes? I am wondering how they felt afterwards and how long until they did IVF.
Thanks for any info. or advice. :)

jobeth, hi, I am usually in the TTC board but saw your post and thought I could give you a little input. I have 1 tube removed in emergency circumstances through a lap when my pg was found to be ectopic, so different to you but same operation....
I had two entry points, one through my naval for the lap and the other on my rhs for removal of the tube, this was 10 months ago and my scars are all but invisible now. Coming round after the operation I did need morphine for the first few hours but not sure if that was because of my circumstances or the operation in general. I was extremely uncomfortable for first 48 hours and not fully mobile again for 2 weeks after which physically I felt fine. Emotionally; losing a tube, or both, must be different for every woman, dependant on their circumstances. I felt, and sometimes still feel, very upset to have lost part of my reproductive system, but as I say, for me it was wrapped up in the emotions of losing a pg at the same time whereas for you it seems as though it is a positive step.
I have not moved on to IVF (yet) so can't help you on this. I just wish you all the very best of luck for the future.

hi Jobeth,
I am so sorry that they have to remove your fallopian tubes, I know that must have difficult to hear. But IVF increases your chances so much more even that TCC on your own!!! So I am excited for you and praying that you get a BFP for 2007!!!!!

Kelly - I am so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how difficult that must have been in that situation. I am sad to lose part of myself as it seems so final since IVF will be our only way of conceiving now. But I am confident that this is the best route to take based on the odds. Good luck to you as well, I wish you the best!
Deluka - thanks for the vote of confidence!

Jobeth, so sorry to hear you have to get your tubes removed :( . I can kind of relate to the devastation myself. Like Kelly, I had a tubal pregnancy and lost one of my tubes in the process of losing the pg :( . It was done laparoscopic along with a D&C. My recovery time was similar to Kelly's and I can also relate to the sadness of losing the pg (so sorry, Kelly!).
I am glad though that you feel so positive/ready for IVF :) . I hope it works for you and your arms are filled with a little angel very, very soon :D .
