Hi.

I picked up something down in Texas during our vacation, on last Thursday.

I was coughing up yellow mucus, and had a runny nose On and Off. My throat was a little sore in the mornings but after an hour or two in the morning it would just feel dry.

My left ear felt congested.

I came back to New York on Monday and saw my doctor on Wednesday.

Dr. said I have a sinus infection and prescribed antibiotics. This has helped my cough (no more mucus coughs) but still occasional "dry" coughs, but my ear is still congested.

Since yesterday I also have a pretty annoying HEADACHE on the right side of my head. When I cough I have to hold the right side of my head to lessen the pain during the cough.

Is this normal?

Also, today I woke up and I still had the headache...but it feels a little better than yesterday.

Thanks much.

Oh yeah, and if the headache part is normal, what should I take?

The Tylenol Extra Strength hasn't been doing much for me. Is Motrin better?

I have similar symptoms to you at the moment! I have a headache when I cough or move my head, and my years hurt. I think the sinus is joint up to your head and years and if theres an infection and congestion it just gives you a head ache. I think headaches are quite common with sinus infections. If it carries on though and you think that its something else go back to the doctor!

Oh, yes, very common. As a matter of fact, I'd be surprised to see a sinus infection without a headache. Mine got so bad I wouldn't even sleep many nights. Sometimes Sudafed paired up with Tylenol was the only solution for me. I tried not to take the Sudafed often, because it actually dries everything up when what you want is for it to stay fairly liquid (so it can makes its way out).

Hopefully your infection clears up soon, with a minimum of pain and fuss for you.

Thanks for the replies :-)

I'm actually feeling a little better as the morning is progressing. :-)
