I know I take medication issues too far but I would rather be safe than sorry.... I have a pretty serious sinus infection happening and I am new to MS - about a year. I am taking Rebif - no complaints yet.
Is it OK to take sinus medication? What about antibiotics? I still don't know the ins and outs of everything - what is good or bad.
Any help would be great.....
Tara

Hi Tara,
Im not a doctor but I can tell you when I was on rebif and copaxone (both at seperate times) and I got a sinus infection I was never told I could not take antibiotics or over the counter meds. My family doctor is well informed about my MS and the meds I am on. He still has put me on antibiotics and everything was fine. What you could do to give yourself piece of mind is call one of the nurses that work at rebif. I cant remember the name of the company that does it. I think it was shared solutions for copaxone. Id have to look for my rebif stuff. You shuold have a 1-800 number to get a hold of someone there and they can tell you about drug interactions. No you are not crazy just careful.
Take care
Heather

Hi there. I see a lot about sinus infections on these boards. Are they related to MS somehow, or just coincidence?

coincidence...and that time of year...sinus infections are not related to MS in any reference I can find..
Also, my doc prescribes antibiotics for me whenver he feels they are needed..I actually feel better on them! I am on rebif....but yes, make the call, you should always look into things on your own, and never take the advice of others when it comes to YOUR body...

Just 2 more cents,
I think anyone with an autoimmune disorder or disease is more likely to get anything that comes down the pike. Our immune systems suck.
I always seem to have somthing wrong. Sinus infection , bronchitis you name it ill get it. Plus alot of meds MSERS are on medsnthat affect the ability to fight off infection. Like steroids. They weaken your immune system somthing fierce.
Can someone please help me down off this soap box?:D
Thanks
Be Well,
Heather
