Hi Guys

im hoping someone here might be able. My step dad was rushed to hospital several times in one week back in Oct 2004, the hospital dismissed him and sent him home without even checking his blood pressure. Anyway finally when he looked like he was on deaths door the ambulance took him to Beaumont hospital and a very aware and alert doctor walked past his room and shouted at the nurses to hook the guy up to a drip and to get him ready for dialysis - he could tell my step dads kidneys were failing just by simply looking at how much pain he was in.
Anyway so he was on dialysis in hospital for a while and then had to have a bowel reconstruction, this all really effected him mentally, emotionally and physically. He hasnt been the same since.
Still to this day- 2 years later his body isnt the same. All i know is they keep giving him all different sorts of medication, each one doesnt seem to be helping at all, but instead creating other problems for him- blackouts, bowel problems etc. He's constantly in pain, he keeps seeing the same doctor who seems to be completely useless. I believe he had a colonoscopy a few weeks before christmas, im not sure of the results but he is really at an all time low now and cant really eat as his stomach is Constantly bloated, my mum says its like his stomach is hard as a rock and he feels it goes all the way up to his throat- none of us are sure what to do.
Im looking for the name of a TOP doctor/ specialist who really knows there stuff and will be able to Properly diagnose and treat him.

i appreciate with anyone who might be able to help

searching,
Welcome to Healthboards!!

Sorry to hear about your Step Dad but as you know He is extremely sick and the hardness of his abdomen sounds like alot of serious illnesses and condtions including cancer.

It would be best to question the Doctors involved in His treatment to find out his exact diagnosis and his prognosis.

God Bless you and your Mother---Harry
