Hi guys - I have an EEG tomorrow I have not had one for 15 years and very dim memories of what happens.
I have a few questions
Can my partner stay with me.
Do the doctors try and make you have a szr.
Do you really spend the rest of the day picking glue out of your hair.
Does it hurt????
Any info would be great

Hey Girl,
How long is this EEG supposed to last?? I am not sure how they do it at your doc but mine was only 20 min to a half hour and there was no glue involved.
**It depends on your doctor whether your partner can stay in the room with you or not. Mine wasn't allowed because it might disturb the times when they wanted concentration out of me. They flashed some lights and made me close and open my eyes. They wanted me to sleep and I did. I don't know if I would have been able to fall asleep if my hubbie was in there with me.
**The docs try to make you have a seizure so they can get the readings on the machine. Once they got mine in the long term VEEG they had all the info they needed (for now). Like I said befor, they flash lights and do different things like that to try to enduce a seizure. It will also tell them if you are light sensitive or not and if that could cause seizures for you.
**They didn't give me glue with mine becuase it was so short. It depends on how long you will be in there. With my short term one in the docs office, they put them on with a jelly type stuff. I had to go home and wash my hair but it all came out. It was like a hair gel. No big deal. The long term one they stuck it on with glue. They didn't want it to come off in the night and all that and yes, I did pick it out for days. It is up to the doc as to what they do.
**I am not sure what you mean by hurt. The EEG does not hurt. The "gel" they attach the wires to does not hurt. Lying on the bed and relaxing does not hurt http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif The glue based ones hurt a little when they peeled it off but it was a lot better than pulling a band-aid off of your arm where it is full of hair.
I wish you all the luck in the world. I know it may sound wrong but I hope you have a siezure so they can better help you in the long run. I know now you probably want to beat the tar out of me for saying that... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/hammer.gif
How have you been?? Any more seizures? Is that why they want to send you for this...increased seizure activity?? How is your business coming?? Talk to me!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Miss ya! Let me know as soon as you get back. I want to know everything.
(((Many Big Hugs)))
God Bless,

Hi U
I'm back and in one piece but I do have sticky hair which I am about to go and wash and then go to bed I am tired.
She stuck all the bits to my head and I had to lay down and be quiet (which is hard for me as I am a chatter box) for about 10 minutes then I had to open my eyes and chat to the nurse for about 10 minutes then she got me to do deep breathing for 3 minutes which made me go all tingly and then she flashed the lights.
I was fine did not have a szr my Specialist wanted to ensure that I wasn't photo sensitive and he was keen for me to have one because it has been 15 yrs since my last one.
In and out in a hour.
Anyway babes all is not well with you is it??? if you don't want to post e-mail me either today or tomorrow.
Lots of Love

I don't know, the VEEG tells a lot of tales. Ones that I think need to be told for the good of ones health.
