My mom has been having a strange headache for the past week. She's 63 and slightly overwieght. First it starts at her neck, moves to the back of her head, then moves up to the top of her head. She describes the pain as a feeling of pressure. Tylenol seems to help, but she doesn't want to become reliant on pain medication.
She went to the hospital and they did a head CT and lumbar puncture plus some other tests (all came back clear/normal.) She doesn't have any neuro symptoms either. They put on blood pressure medication since it wasn't being treated before. Could the HBP be causing a headache? The pain seemed to come on suddenly and I know she had the HBP before the headaches (she had it checked but it was never treated). The doctor said that he neck muscles seem very tense, but could that really cause a headache?
Another thing is that she recently got false teeth for the first time and her gums have been shrinking and the fit on the teeth became wrong. It had been causing jaw pain, but she just got them readjusted.
