Is it true that if u have a high level of t-cells and u get infected then u will experience really low or none symptoms on acute infection...
and if u have a "low" level of t-cells (before infection) like 700 t-cells...and u get infected u will experience much more symptoms on acute infection...
what do u think??
i know this question is kinda similar to the last one i did...but eventually its different.
thanx again!

Cflas, what do u think of this...
"if you were suffering acute infection and your CD4s dipped that low that quickly from the norm you would be one very sick person indeed and CMV would be the least of your concerns. You would be in ICU, intubated for breathing difficulties and experiencing severe dehydration with intravenous saline and that's just the beginning of a very long list of related issues."
Do u agree with this person??
Thank you very much for ur help and concern.
take care!!

Well, there are a couple of things that I found: that CMV is related to the herpes virus and is present in almost everyone. It does become a problem if immune systems are compromised and there are many ways that immune systems can be compromised (not only HIV). And, yes, the likelihood increases as the CD4 count decreases.
BUT, as I understand it, you haven't even received the results of your tests so it could be related to other things. Aside from getting teste, have you been to an opthamologist who can truly diagnose your issues? chris
Thank you very much Motherlove!
Hey again Cflas, yes i've went to 4 opthamologists...
The first one i went was only a week after my symptoms started, the dr performed me an Indirect ophthalmoscopy eye exam and found something on my retina (he looked young and inexperienced so he called an older dr and more experienced one, this dr asked me what r u habits? "i said normal..." and if i had an immunological problem "i said, not that i know of" so they got me an urgent appointment with a retina expert because they couldnt determine what i had...Went to the retina expert, he performed a Slit-lamp ophthalmoscopy eye exam and found nothing, he said that probably the "floaters" will fade away in 6 months or not, that i had to get used to them, i went to see 2 more opthamologists in other clinics and they couldnt find anything (but they also performed slit-lamp eye exams)...and then i read that CMV Retinitis is only diagnosed by doing an Indirect ophthalmoscopy eye exam...maybe the first 2 dr's (young and experienced) that found the problem couldnt diagnose me the cmv retinitis because they arent hiv specialists??
This is my theory...I hope im incorrect...
Ill have my new and pretty much definivite hiv results on Monday...
the first one i did which was at only 5 weeks after "exposure" went Negative.
And i have an appointment on friday 19 to the first 2 dr's that saw me to actually tell them my theory in order for them to see if its really cmv retinitis or not...
With all this when i went to make my blood exam, i learnt that in my country ALL HIV/AIDS MEDICATIONS ARE FREE...The Goverment pays everything, similar to the public hospitals that we have here which are 100% free...I was amazed when they told me that...having such a corrupt goverment, im in Argentina...
So if any of you has economical problems...you know where medications are free...
thanx again cflas, looking forward for ur reply

T-cells are a trip, meaning that one can have low cells and be sick and that one can have higher cells and be sick. I know, I have had both. In fact my vrial load was higher when my t-cells was higher. My doctors admitted that olympic atheletes have been known to have low t-cells. I personally think that every person is different and many factor influence them. At my last count, mine were 136. I do not take the anti-virals, yet I have been and am perfectly healthy.
