Whatever your profession was prior to your disability this "vocational expert" will advise the judge if you will be able to perform in the same type profession if you were a professional (high paying job)

Or

Perform in the same type of job if in the labor/manufacturer/clerical type of profession (high to low paying type jobs)

Or

Depending on your *age* AND *gender* trainable for another profession and/or type of job.

Example: I had a high paying job & was employed for over 35 years before I was *disabled*. There was no way this *vocational expert* was going to advise the judge that I was *retrainable* AND find another employer who will hire me at my age (53 years young @ the time) for anything comparable to the salary I was previously making!!!! Case Closed. :D

Good luck at the hearing.

I am female and 52.
You have nothing to worry about. A shoe in for a favorable decision. The older you are, the better your chances.
Employers rarely hire *healthy* "Baby Boomers". :D

The VE just talks to the judge & not to you.
You will NOT be tested.

Good luck!

Sorry to interuped , but my education level is a GED. The only kind of work I ever did was labor , I hate to say this but I'm not very book smart. After I recieved ny GED I joined the U.S.Army for 8 years , came out of there to a maintenance job for the holidayInn , left there to work for a glass company ( installing windows ) then moved on to work for a warehouse where I operated a fork lift and unloaded and loaded trailers. I know I can never do this type of work due to my back , and I'm 41 yrs old, what would they say I can do ? I have pain everyday and had 3 spine surgeries , I recieve injections in my spine to ease the pain along with percocets and Morphine

Well then I have nothin to fear , because I won't find a job that pays as well as my prior job either. Heck I been turned down by 3 employee's so far. A prison guard /welder /school janitor with my back no one will hire me. besides thats when I was feeling half human , I don't anymore . Whatever your profession was prior to your disability this "vocational expert" will advise the judge if you will be able to perform in the same type profession if you were a professional (high paying job)

As long as your medical documentations confirm you will be on those medications for life and same will interfere w/job performance you will have nothing to worry about.
Example: The side effects of one of the meds I take for my "disability" would make me "unemployable" if I was your age or younger.
At your age 41, SS would consider you "retrainable" however, if you are on powerful drugs that would keep you doped up all the time, :dizzy: you have a better chance of getting a favorable decision. However, you must remember that the Judge also takes your "disability" into consideration as he/she is reading your medical file as the VE is talking. The whole preoceeding is being recorded.
The VE has your complete employment history sitting in front of him/her.

PS I hope you have a Social Security Disability Attorney. You will have a much better chance of a favorable decision at a hearing w/one.

MZ,
I'm not sure if I will be on my strong meds for life ? My disability keeps me off my feet and believe it or not sitting to long hurts to ,I need to alternate posistions, as far as my work history ? I have only ever done Labor , heavy lifting and stuff a monkey can do. (with a good back)
Ive been a good emploeyee wherever I worked and I'm sure it would say so.

I don't have an attorney yet , I'm waiting on workers comp to settle my case and I'm not totally sure I will need SSD yet ? MAYBE there is a job I can do I dont know yet .

Thanks for your help MZ
