I have had a REALLY hard time since I was diagnosed with genital HSV-1 a few months ago. I am pretty much having OBs every week, whether its oral or genital. I'm on suppressive Valtrex, taking Lysine, all of the recommended vitamins, etc...
My question is... I want to get off of birth control, but I'm concerned my OBs might get worse if I start getting my "real" period rather than the fake one that I get every month on birth control. I know that menstruation is supposed to be a trigger for OBs. I can't tell if I've been getting OBs at that time of the month since I've pretty much been dealing with it on a regular basis since I was diagnosed.
Basically, I'd like to stop taking the birth control, but at the same time I'm scared the OBs will get worse. Has anyone dealt with this question or have any advice?
