I am looking for Vitamins or Supplements that really do help, alleviate, calm you, help realistically with Anxiety. I want to hear from those that have used/or using these. Is there really such a thing as something natural that will help calm you, alleviate irritability, for a reasonable amt of time. I have tried CAlms Forte, but it didn't really help me, Valerian I"m afraid may interract with some medications. I'm looking for honest tried and true answers if there is indeed one.

A vitamin called "Good Days" After about a week I felt the diff. I was sleeping better, more energy, overall happier and a calm feeling that I really can't explain. I also have chamamile (sp) tea 3 times a day.

Always check with your doctor before taking anything other than your meds. Jsut fax them the information and they should get back to you right away.

Just like there's no miracle drug, there's no miracle supplement. Some things may help you but there is no single vitamin or supplement that is guaranteed to help. It largely depends on your individual physiology and whether you are low in a particular vitamin or mineral. So, you may have to experiment somewhat.

You could try taking a high quality multivitamin. Some people also feel that magnesium supplements help them. Magnesium can help relax muscles and keep the heart beating evenly and calmly.

Drinking plenty of water can also help very much, as can cutting out sugar from your diet.

I have heard the GNC ULtra Multi Vitamin for Women is a good one. Many mulit's do not have enough magnesium, so a mag supplement w calcium might be a good choice for me.
I also might try the 2nd posters Good Day vitamin, never heard of it, will have to chk to see where it is available and ingredients.

Any idea what the vitamins from GNC cost? I did a search on that Good Day vitamin and couldn't find anything. Maybe its only available regionally???

For anxiety try:

Valerian
Kava Kava
both are excellent

For Depression try:
St. Johns Wort
it works like an SSRI so you will have to take it for at least a month to get the effects of the herb.

For inability to sleep try:
Melatonin
knocks me out cold!!!

If these don't work then I would consider a real medication. The Kava Kava kept me afloat for many years, but eventually just wasn't enough, so now I am on Xanax.

I've seen that ST Johns wart in the drugstores, does it also help anxiety as well. I'm just hesitant about it interacting with other meds.
I also saw that Sam-e, I even tried it, but upset my stomach very badly.
I 've also heard some good things about Magnesium/Calcium as well.

Are the "Good Days" vitamins large pills? Are they hard to swallow? I take Jamieson chewable multivitamin, Jamieson stressplex and some evening primrose oil. I would be willing to try the "Good Days" but I have a hard time swallowing pills.

If you do not like pills then Good Days wouldn't work out. There are five to a packet! Minerals, vitamins, fish oil, etc. They were developed (from what I am told) for people with anxiety, depression and panic

i believe they are from GoodLiving Labs.

They are expensive but if you go on a auto delivery they are around $20 a month

I was looking at that Good Days stuff online and its mostly an herbal compund, not a vitamin. Is that safe to take with SSRIs b/c I was told not to take anyting herbal like St johns wort or anything when on them?

Right. St. Johns Wort would replace your current meds if you were going to take it. It is a natural antidepressant and works on the seratonin level in your brain just like the other SSRI's do. It is more mild and doesn't have the side effects the SSRI's do though.

For anxiety though Kava Kava and Valerian are the best. Just make sure you find a reputable herbalist to purchase from. Don't just go to Wal-Mart and pick some up. Do some research into good herbal supplements and buy the appropriate vendors' product.

Anyway, if anxiety is the issue then kava and valerian will only help with mild cases. If you are having major panic attacks with or without agoraphobia then these herbs will not be enough to help you. You need to look into an antianxiety med like Xanax, Ativan, or Klonopin.

You should talk to your doctor. I am not sure how receptive he will be to herbal remedies, but kava worked well for me in times of minor stress, {REMOVED} the Xanax is the only thing that really works for me. LOL. Anyway, if the anxiety is minor then valerian and kava can be really helpful. You can get them at any health food store in pill or tea form. I took a combo because the warm tea was really nice before bed and the pill had a stronger, more potent amount of the herb.

I am pretty sure taking kava with SSRI's would not hurt you in any way, but it never hurts to check with your doctor.

Aromatherapy or Dead Sea Bath Salts really helped me. Light some candles play soft music and pick up some sea salts. The aromatherapy of Anxiety relief and stress relief which are 100% pure ESSENTIAL OILS smell wonderful. I also like the scent of body calm.
