View Full Version : need med suggestions for photo sensitive

hi there,
i am 46 and have photo sensitive s's. i only get them from strobe light things.

mainly the sun filtering through the trees. i live in colorado and have been here now since 1997.

i came from minnesota and the elevation is so much lower there. i have no problems with the altitude, not after all this time anyway.

i do have a problem around this time of year because it seems that the sun is so much closer to us now then in the summer, which i knows seems backwards.

anyway this last month or so has been so horrible! the sun is so intense that i am developing a fear to go outside now days because there are so many strobes.

i have not been on meds for 22 years when i got pregnant.

after i had the baby my dr. and i agreed i could do without the meds since i could avoid the strobes.

well now i am re-thinking this because i don't know what is going on here!

i do not even know any of the new drugs since 1981!! i was originally on dilantin for a while but had problems with bleeding gums and was switched to phenobarbital which was fine.

i know so many meds cause weight gain and hair loss, and i don't need nor want either of them

can anyone give me some suggestions that would help with strobe light s's?

i am thinking of asking dr. for something and would like to be informed when i go in.

thanks so much!

Do computer screens set them off for you? That's how they found out about my epilepsy...i had a seizure in front of the screen (I have an LCD screen now). I'm on Carbatrol.

hi there and thanks for replying.
i have never had problems with computer screens but probably cause i have the lcd from the start.

i do know that if i had the old kind that looks like it is rolling i would of never been or stayed on a computer.

i do not have any problems with anything else but the strobe effects from the sun mainly, or what ever else can cause a strobe effect.

i have managed to avoid one now for going on 10 years and prior to that another 17 years or so.

of course that i means ilived a pretty sheltered life, so sad to realize that now.

i feel that i lived so much of my life in fear that i never did live at all, and i am still that way....

anyway do you have other kind of s's? or just from the computer or what?

i've read about so many others that have photo sensitive s's but they also have other ones too.

i've only had them from the strobe's so i feel very fortunate in that sense.

again thanks for replying.
