Oceangazer 01-12-2007, 09:42 PM My 17 yr old is sick and in the bathroom feeling sick but hasn't thrown up yet...but won't come out I don't know how to help him...he's moaning and I'm so scaky and scared...I feel like I'm going to pass out!!! PeskyRabbit 01-12-2007, 09:44 PM Tell us why you're so afraid so we can help you. Oceangazer 01-12-2007, 09:48 PM I've always had an intense fear of it and I don't know why....I get paralized from it. I just took a Klonopin...I'm afraid it will be miserable and last long and we will all get it...ect ty for your post Also I was told today that it was in the newspaper this is a very bad virus this yr {REMOVED} PeskyRabbit 01-12-2007, 09:54 PM I think taking the Klonopin was a good idea to help calm you down a little. First of all, how is he doing now? Is he really sick or maybe just has a stomach ache or ate something that bothered him. If he really is sick, then be careful to wash your hands well before you eat. Often, stomach problems and diarrhea are spread because people don't wash their hands. Now, lets take a few deep breaths and think about the worst case scenerio. It is really no fun to have the stomach virus, but it isn't dangerous as long as you take care of yourself and get to the doctor if it isn't relieved in a few days. What about it scares you the most? Oceangazer 01-12-2007, 09:58 PM I guess just how miserable it is and I think that if he breathes anywhere around me I will get it to, if I go into his bedroom or bathroom. He is out of the bathroom for now, but feels awful. :( I'd rather have a cold the rest of my life than have a chance to catch this one time. I know it's irrational, but I can't help it. I can't explain it. I have tried with therapy and there is no help. {REMOVED} PeskyRabbit 01-12-2007, 10:11 PM How are you doing now? Is the Klonopin helping at all? Try taking some nice deep calming breaths and tell yourself you can get through this. I know it's hard, but keep telling yourself that it's going to be ok. Positive thinking can really make a difference sometimes. The stomach flu is definitely miserable, but as of right now, you don't have it and there's a good chance you won't. You're predicting the worst case scenerio, which is what those of us with anxiety do best! :) Tell yourself too that even if you do get sick, you'll likely feel bad for a few days, but you'll take good care of yourself if that happens and you will recover. One thing you can do is spray a little Lysol or something like that around and remind everyone else including your son to wash their hands frequently. Is there something you enjoy doing that will help you take your mind off your worries for a bit? Is someone else home you can talk to about how you're feeling? Maybe try to focus on helping your son feel better. Is there something he needs that you could get for him? Oceangazer 01-12-2007, 11:42 PM Well, I called my friend and she was very good about the whole thing and while I was talking to her, my son threw up in his garbage bag by the bed...he is resting right now. When it happened I started to tremor even with the meds, but my friend told me she would hold on while I give him ice chips and change the garbage bag...she is an angel. I'm not tired and feel like I will be up all night listening for my son. Thank you for posting and I hope I can be of some help to others. I do know that if he starts being sick again I will panic, but I will try and get through it by myself...ty alex12 01-13-2007, 08:55 AM Just know the virus will pass. the stomach virus is going around NJ I had it and my daughter...it was aweful! I usuallygo to the ER when I'm throwing up because I feel like I'm going to pass out, this time I didn't. It lasted 24 hours althoughm y stomach is still not 100%, thats probably from anxiety too. |
