I know I'm one of those people KittyMom is talking about and I'm sorry and I hope you get better soon.

I think God or some higher power is maybe trying to get back at me for the unkind words I have said in the past few days. I have gone 5+ years without seizures (I've had only one) and have been tapering meds since April. Everything has gone fine. I also have panic disorder. This morning, after fretting about a presentation I had to do at work (I've been nervous all week) I was walking to my desk and I got lightheaded and had to sit down. My heart was racing and I was almost dizzy. I thought I might passout. I have sinced calmed down and don't feel tired or confused or anything. Could this be a seizure or my panic attacks rearing their ugly head? I know I'm disliked right now but if someone could find it in their hearts to respond I would be so happy.

Hi Molly!

It could be a seizure, BUT I have had just a few panic attacks in my life, and it sounds exactly like what you said, I felt dizzy and lightheaded like I was going to faint, and then it got to the point where I was hyperventilating.

HOPEFULLY that is the case and you're not having any seizures!

Hugs,
Amy

Do you have a history of seizures? My thinking was it sounds like a panic attack, but I've never experienced one, so I'm just going by what I have heard.

Hope you feel better

OH MY!! You are not disliked sweetie! We all just got caught up in a bad moment and it is all forgotten! You are part of this family and you can't stay mad at family right??

It sure sounds like a panic attack to me because you were so nervous. I have had the very same thing once and the neuro told me that it could have been a seizure but that may never be known because they run so closely together. If you had been hooked up to an EEG at the time they could tell but since you weren't, only God knows.

I hope you weren't having a seizure. Not after this long!!!! I hope it is all better now and see if you can't keep yourself calm and no stress for a few days. I will be praying for you!!

God Bless sweetie and no hard feelings here,
KittyMom

One other thing Molly, I would always get the dizziness, feel like I was going to faint, and rapid heartbeat, and sometimes but not always I would start hyperventilating where I would have to breathe into a bag...I don't think I worded it very well and just wanted to let you know that the hyperventilating didn't happen each time so it sounds the same as what I experienced. It was definitely completely different than a seizure (or at least in my case).

Hope that helps!

I’m sitting here right now at my desk, almost in tears. I REALLY appreciate all the wonderful responses I had and so quickly! You guys are a wonderful group, Kitty Mom, no hard feelings as well and I’m glad to see you back. How do you feel today?? Keeping that stress under control I hope.

I think it was panic too. I gave my notice last week so I could go back to school and I’m really stressed out about that. I was so nervous to tell them I was leaving that I was actually shaking saying the words. I just am so nervous about tapering my Tegretol that I think every little thing is a seizure. BTW, those who don’t know me, I had one grand mal seizure 5 years ago and a few episodes where random thoughts would rush into my head but that was it. Docs never said they were/weren’t seizures. My doc figured that I wouldn’t need the Tegretol anymore.

I should get back to work but thanks again for the kind words of reassurance. It’s still snowing and FREEZING here in Maine http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi,
It sounds like siezure activity to me.I can come over dizzy, and will slump down to my knees or sit in a chair if one is very near.I have to fight to stay concious, and it's very frightening. My head will pound and I feel very sick as well as this is happening.I do have panic attacks, but these come when I am very stressed out over family and money matter's.

Hi Molly,
It's snowy and freeezing here in Vermont too! I am snuggled up with my Greyhound (who has very bad breath http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif) and my favorite blankey. Anyhow, it sounds like a panic attack to me too. I had a similar experience a few weeks ago when we went to see my sick, comatose mom-in-law in Connecticut. We went to one of the large chain stores and I became totally overwhelmed...then panic-stricken. I couldn't find my husband, which put me into a worse panic attack. I thought I was going to have a seizure! Finally I was able to calm myself down and I found my sweetie. We had a good laugh over the situation and decided we couldn't wait to come home to good old quiet, slow paced Vermont! Anyhow, I hope all is well with you. Kathy
