Has anyone had any success getting a tattoo removed?

I've seen it done with lasers. Some colors remove better then others. It works, but it's painful and expensive and requires multiple sessions. Worth it though, if you really can't stand the tat anymore.

I'm in the process of having my tattoo removed. It's done with lasers and like the pp said it's expensive and painful... but worth it. I have an arm band that was a celtic design that was dark black with some shading and I'm about 4 treatments in and it's so much lighter. The doc said it should take about 10-12 treatments total.

Although, I'm very curious if anyone's tried "wrecking balm". I've been hearing commercials and checked out their website, but I'd love personal stories.

I wish that before someone gets one they would look into the future some and realize that a tattoo is permanent but your tastes aren't! I alway try and tell the kids that when I was 18 I was a totally different person than I am today....thank the gods!;)

It's very costly and painful. I have had the laser done once and tatbegone tattooed into me by a tat artist twice. It's scarred bad from the laser treatment and it's lighter but I don't have the money or the patience to keep going back. I was going to get a cover up but some tat artists say that because it's scarred it wouldn't hold the color or the lines well.

Wow, I've had 5 laser treatments and no scarring. That's too bad jkitty, I'm sorry to hear that. It is most definitely painful and expensive! Has the tatbegone stuff worked for you? There isn't anyone in my area that does it. Have you heard of Wrecking Balm? I'm dying to find someone that's tried it so I can figure out if I want to spend the money or not. I have another laser treatement in 2 weeks, not looking forward to it!

When I had the laser treatment done it was about 5 years ago. I hear they have better lasers now and safer treatments. Mine cost about 300 a piece and he wanted to see me 10 sessions.

The tatbegone was cheaper and did fade the tattoo and it helped with scaring also. A friend of mine used that cream you are talking about and said it didn't work. Your tattoo ink is seven layers of skin deep. So I'm not sure how a cream would pull that up. Sounds too good to be true. Does it just remove layers of skin? In that case it sounds dangerous.

I could be the poster child for thinking it fully through before getting a tattoo...

Are you going to get more tatbegone tattooed in? Not sure how that works and how many times you can do. I wish that there was someone in my area that was trained to do it. Although the doctor that does my laser treatments is great! They definitely have come a long way in 5 years! I originally had a consultation for it like 7 years ago and finally just decided to DO it instead of talking about doing it!

Have you considered not getting rid of it but changing it. I ask because my husband has 18 tatoos, most done when he was young and didn't give it a thought. He had his ex-wifes name on his arm that was covered beautifully with a vine of roses that he already had just continued over her name. That solved that problem. If youwant it totally removed I have heard that it is costly, painful and doesn't always remove it all. I agree that alot of times they are done when you are young and then the regrets come in. I had a small one done at 40 and had it made large rand added to at 50. it's on a place on my leg that can be concealed very easily, is pretty so even in a dress it looks nice, and i won't look like a nut when i am 80.

Have you considered not getting rid of it but changing it.Unfortunately ICC, it IS a coverup! I did one myself with India ink when I was 16, and stupidly I covered it up (professionally) with this big, BLACK arm band, it's ugly... and it's just above my elbow! So t-shirts, bathing suits, etc...make me feel so self-conscience. I also had a friend cover up his ex gf's name and you can't even tell.

I am having my tattoo removed. It's a blue/black ink armband. Every time I go for a treatment it's $125 bucks. It's pretty painful, but the woman that does the treatment is very quick. I usually take 4 tylenol an hour before I go. I also had some jager so that helped. :) I tried to get the lidocaine once and that was even more painful because you have to have multiple shots, not just one. I was told I would need somewhere between 10-12 treatments, but they get rid of the tattoo 100%, but with possibly of hypo or hyper pigmentation. So far the 3 treatments have lightened it a lot. I was told by the Dr. to make sure the place you get it done usues "Q lasers".

I just went for my first treatment yesterday. It sure does hurt. I have a scab today, is that normal? I am keeping it covered w/ ointment. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have had tattoos removed by laser treatment its very effective but can be expensive and is not painless but then again its more painful to have them put on in the first place :)

Mine gets really blistery the first couple of days and then I scab for about a week. Definitely keep up with the ointment and bandages until it's completely healed. The ointment will help with scarring - and beware that it may get VERY itchy, but DON'T scratch!

Scabs and blisters are normal. So is the insane itching! I keep aloe plant in the fridge and squeeze the gunk out on it for the first week. Helps a lot to heal and stop itching.
