Hi. I know omega fatty 3 acids are good for u. They help the memory. What I was wondering is how exactly do they help the memory. Can it "improve" your memory.. or just "prevent" memory from being lost.

Does it matter? Fact is Omega 3's are proven to be good for all brain functions, eye health and of course cardiovascular health not to mention it worked as well as AD's for mild depression and ADD. Only adverse warnings is that it also is a great blood thinner but should not be taken with other blood thinners (that makes common sense!)

Just take it!

Well yes it does matter for me in a way.. if it could only improve your memory I would start eating salmon everyday. But if it could only prevent memory loss I would think about starting eating salmon because I'm not a fish lover.

You certainly don't have to eat it everyday; you could even use fish oil supplements. Of course, fish 3 times a week is recommended for good health.

So I still haven't got an answer cleared yet. Can you tell me straight up if it can only "improve" or just "prevent" memory loss. Which one or can it do both?

my dr told me to take it for other reasons but explained the benefits as it can prevent memory loss and memory loss diseases such as alzheimers, and it is good to help you concentrate more now as well.. its good for the brain, thats whats important! get a bottle, if you dont liek fish dont eat it, a bottle of vitamins is not expensive and also there are butters, eggs, and other stuff now made with omega 3..

I read a book last year about a doctor who trialled the use of Omega 3 fatty acids to treat a patient with severe depression/anxiety. I can't remember it in detail but there was one part that said some part of the brain that obviously had to do with anxiety/depression could be restored with long term supplementation of omega 3. And by long term use I mean taking it for months and then staying on it. In the trial he was getting his patient to take up to 10 grams of eha, or whatever the technical term for the fatty acid, is. i've been taking fish oil now for the past three months. I take four capsules a day. I take it for its supposed heart related and alzheimer reducing benefits but I also take it in the hope that it will help with my anxiety. I also take zinc because it's supposedly good for anxiety and concentration. One of them has certainly helped. Because I've been taking both I can't tell whether one's been more effective than another. I wish I could remember the name of the guy who wrote that book but I can't. Sorry.
