I have this strange grey spot in my left eye peripheral vision that seems to move with my eye. It is kinds oval in shape. I really notice it if I look at the bright sky, or a white wall etc, but it’s always there. I have the same type of spot in my right eye, but I really have to look extreme right to see it, or look for it against a white surface or the sky. I don't notice these spots much when I am in a darker dimly lit area. It is just one spot per eye, and the left eye is more visible and hasn’t seemed to change. The right eye is only visible in super bright situations, and I have to kind of look for it. The spots are small and in my peripheral vision. If I hold a white piece of paper to my nose, and can see this little grey speck move when I move my eye. If I look up, it goes up, etc. The further I move the paper the bigger the speck seems to get. I have been to an ophthalmologist and a retina specialist and everything seems okay. I first noticed this on Dec 3rd and it has not changed since. It makes me nervous. I am a 27 year old male that is in good shape, with no major health history. I wear glasses, but the prescription is very light and is mostly for reading. Anyone ever experience such a thing? Looking for any kind of advice. :dizzy:

Maybe it's floaters? I have a lot of them and eye doctors always remark on it but maybe if you just have a couple it is harder for them to spot. If it is floaters, there's not much that can be done about it, unfortunately.

i know what you are talking about i think i first noticed it as a child have never been to see anyone about it i think it is just a focus thing and if anyone knows what they are trying to focus on they will see it to. im not sure if you see what i see but its like a hollow circle with a bit of a tail but only visible if focusing against something light.

Are you saying the spot in your left eye is in your left peripheral field, and in your right eye the right peripheral field? In this case, it could be the natural blind spot where the optic nerve enters the eye--to the left of centre in the left eye, right of centre in right eye. This is easy to determine by staring at a blank screen with one eye closed and moving the cursor horizontally from the centre of your vision to the side. At one point, the cursor will disappear. You can determine if this spot coincides with the grey spot you see.

Unless it is overwhelming, it's completely normal to see these spots from time to time. Don't quote me on this, but I think it's pieces from the retina (rods and cones) that have broken off and become, yes, floaters. Also, if you put a small (I repeat, small) amount of pressure on your eye lid with your finger, you will see a black spot on the opposite side of your vision--the size of your finger, of course.
I also learned another cool trick when I had physics in high school. If you take your middle finger and index finger, and hold them horizontally parallel right in front of your eyes, with only a small gap separating them, you will see two thin black lines between the fingers.
Also, I used to think that the human eye was the consistency of a hard boiled egg, since that's what it feels like on the outside, but when I dissected a sheep's eye ball in grade school I found out it's much more like a grape, hehe.

Hey thanks for all your input on this. I appreciate hearing from you all. I go to the Eye Doctor today for a visual field test. This spot is really annoying me. Its really only in my left eye, but if i cover my left eye with my hand and stare at the bright sky and look extreme right in my right eye, i can begin to see the same type of spot. The left eye spot is visabe almost all the time, regardless if i am looking at the sky or not. However when iam in a darker place, like a bar, or living room with low light it is not as noticable or annoying. The spot moves when i move my eye. If it is my natural blind spot, why did i just start to notice it? It does seem to correlate with my blind spot? I might be obsessing! I am so confused. I wish this thing would go away. Thanks for any advice!!!

Hey, this is Doublezerodon. I had to change my username and profile because for some reason the doublezerodon profile would not let me access certain things. Anyways, regarding the spots, i went and had a field vision test done, and the results were normal. These crazy spots, however are not going away and its really annoying. Iam going to doctor on Thursday. Keep you posted.
