Hello, Everybody Im new to this website. Well this is my story. I started taking paxil at seventeen years old because of social anxiety that was ruining my life. I im 22 years old now. I have thought of getting of my medicine but everytime i try i get really sick and i cant take it, but now im pregnaunt and I have to get off it. Now i heard that paxil causes heart problems to babies. Im so confused. If anybody has gone off the meds or is going off them. Please reply back. I really need to talk to somebody thats passing through what im going through.

please listen, please listen!!! especially being pregnant you don't want to quit cold turkey. my situation is nothing like the above posted. i have been on lexapro for only 4 months, and i have weaned off of it, like dr. said . i have been off for 5 days and still have the swooshing in my head and weird swooshing in chest and down body. mine could be worse and i am so thankful its not. but be careful if you go off of it. i would be scared to be pregnant and be on an AD. just be careful is all i have to say. no matter what the dr's say.

You should slowly taper off, as quick as possible. How is that for a catch 22? You need to get with your doctor asap and talk to him about it and taper off hte anxiety med. You will be very uncomfortable on top of the hormone changes caused by the pregnancy, but I think you should do it for the baby. Paxil can cause weird feelings in your head and increased anxiety etc as a withdrawl symptoms, so be ready and prepared to deal for 9 mos.

Good luck!

HI ,i was on paxil serxoat we called it in england, was great on it for 3 yrs , got pregnant and the doctor told me to stop it dead , because it could harm the baby in the early stages , so i did what he said , 3 months into my pregnancy , my anxiety came back, had to go back on it then when i re started it in my pregnancy again i took the first tablet then this dru nk out of it feeling come on me, this was in 2005 like it caused something stopping it then restarting it , i wish id not stop it in the early stages , wish id just took it all the time, i gave birth to a very healthy baby boy and i took it for 6 months , but wish i would have took it for 9 months because this drunk feeling come on because i restarted the tablet again if id never stop it probably i would be well now, i know lots of people who have took it all the way through ther pregnancy and ther babys are well , but nothing 100% and thats the risk you take.

I took Paxil during my entire pregnancy with my 4th child. My son is now 3 years old and fine and healthy.Of course this is your pregnancy so only you can make the choice.I agree with the others though,if your going to stop the Paxil, you should slowly taper off.Paxil is (for most it seems) is very difficult to taper off. When I did taper off Paxil I had a ruff time.I failed the first try but succeeded the second go round.Keep with your doctor and I wish you the best.

I was on Paxil with both my pregnancies because at the time it was classified B pregnancy, can you imagine!!!!!!!!???!! Now it's about to be a D. These drug companies have no morals~! Anyway, oth my kids, THANK GOD turned out fine. Just for you to have some solicein that. Also, they say it's worse int he last trimester with Paxil and pregnancy. In the interm you may want to start by having your Dr. switch you to a "safer" class drug. If you have very bad anxiety and live without it, just be sure you have ongoing tests done so they could moniter the baby's developement.
