I will be 49 yrs old soon, and have all the peri menopausal symptoms off and on....My period is irregular, sometimes within 20 days, other months 48 days...This month it is now Day 39 and I still havent gotten my period...Last week I had some itching, burning, and I thought it might be a yeast infection, but I didn't have the discharge or anything like that...Used Monistat for a few days, but don't even know if I really had one...Is this type of vaginal itching normal in peri? Now yesterday and today, I am urinating alot, feel totally bloated and water retention, my stomach feels gigantic (and I have been barely eating and exercising)....I still havent gotten a period, and am now thinking maybe I have a urinary tract infection, but I really don't have the burning and pain......Just feel real bloated and uncomfortable, and like I constantly have to go to the bathroon...I have Bactrim, but didnt know if I should take it or not...I also have a hard time drinking water, I dont like it, and I know I dont drink enough of it...I usually drink diet ice tea and coffee or diet soda(but not alot of soda)...Will drinking more water help the water retention/bloating?
I have only had these symptoms for 2 days, but have been searching on the internet and now am worried I may have ovarian cancer! Did I also mention I have alot of health anxiety since this peri thing started? lol
Sorry for going on...Just wondering what could be wrong and what is the best thing to do right now for the symptoms?
Thanks!

I had the same thing last fall. Very bloated with frequent urination. My period was over due too. I took the OTC med to help with burning of an UTI but I didn't really have any burning just going alot but only small amounts. Finally got so uncomfortable I went to the doctor and had a CT scan. They found a cyst on my ovary and said the pressure and discomfort was probably from that. My urine test was all normal so no infection. In about a week it was better. I found out that ovarian cysts are pretty common during peri. I am 52 and seems like I have had peri symptoms forever. The cyst last year was something new. I know what you mean about water. I thought if I drank more it would flush out whatever was wrong, it just made me more bloated. Call your doctor if it doesn't improve shortly. I got scared too when I read all the bad stuff on the internet. I took the pill for 9 months after that to help with the cyst and stop my heavy periods. Good luck.

I am 52, and still having major perimenopause suffering. Some days I wonder if I will live to the next day. As for the frequent urination, I am the QUEEN of that! I get up numerous times during the night, every night. I take a low dose Ativan and a mild sleeping tablet each night, because I have to have some sleep since I work full-time. Since my stomach has always been my weak place, I have been suffering greatly with the all the peri stomach issues, which increases my health anxiety. I too have searched the internet about all these things, but have found that what I read makes everything worse. The blessing is that I have a new, wonderful doctor who REALLY cares. He spent 1.5 hours with me on my first visit. I go for my pap on February 5, so I'll talk some more with him about all this suffering. I've gone two months without a period, so we'll see...
My heart goes out to you. Just know that you are not alone!

i think very many of us ladies at this time in our lives have a lot of anxiety about our health, thinking the worst, and i guess it's because there are so many changes taking place which bring differing symptoms every day, which we've maybe not heard about and not expected. certainly, that's how it's been for me, and simply by coming here and talking about it and listening to other ladies who have the same, makes it less worrying. that's not to say everything is down to peri, but it somehow puts it all into perspective.
i think the main thing is, if you're worried at all about anything, go and see your doctor and have him/her put your mind at rest, and don't be put off by anyone who might say 'it's only menopause'. it may 'only' be menopause, and no-one died of it, but it's still a heck of a thing to deal with and live with day to day. good luck.

If its only been a few days since the bloating and frequent urination then wait it out and see if your period starts. Before my period stopped I would bloat like crazy and have to pee every few hours just before. This started maybe a week prior. If you're not experiencing pain when you go to the bathroom then chances are its not an infection. I think every woman who enters into this stage of life starts fearing for their health. With every pain we start imagining the worst things. OMG! I know I did. If you do start getting the painful urination feeling then go to the doctor or just to ease your own mind go and have the test done. Better to find out then sit there and worry. I have read to that you need to drink at least 8-10 eight ounce glasses of water a day to flush out your systems. It is true pretty much and it helps keep your kidneys flushed and your body hydrated. I wouldn't keep reading what you find on the internet...it tends to create panic when there is no need.
