I am 30 years old, almost 31 and I have had seizures since I was 17. When it all first started I would take a shower before I would go to school and some days maybe once in 3 or 4 months I would get out and have a weird feeling like I was going to pass out. So I would go lay down until the feeling went away. One day I got out and blacked out and hit my head on the wall and ended up in the hospital for a week with them running test to find out what the problem was. They ended up putting me on Dilantin 300 mg a day. I did better with the medicine but still had one to two a year. I think the last bad one I had was back in 1998 at work. I blacked out and my co-workers thought that I was dead because my pluse was faint and hard to find. Couple of hours later I was back up and walking but had a headache. Now for the last few years I start getting this funny feeling and start seeing spots. It's kinda like a warning sign and it gives me enough time to sit down. Last week while I was at work I started getting that funny feeling and seeing the spots. I sat down and started sweating real bad and for some reason I started spitting (I know what is weird). I was conscius the whole time but really bad dazed and confused for about 3 to 4 minutes. After that I got up and started working again but had a foggy mind for about an hour. I have had problems with my blood pressure recently, it has gotten as high as 160 over 110. So I'm taking Clonidine tab .1mg twice a day and just in the last two weeks I have started taking TOPROL-XL 50mg. Since I have started the Toprol my blood pressure has been staying at 120 over 75, much better. So I thought what had happened to me at work last week might have something to do with my blood pressure but my mother thinks it might have been a Petit Mal seizure. But I looked up them on the internet and it says they go away the older you get and are more in common in children. I'm almost 31. So and advice or reply would be great. Thanks........

I am not sure about petit mal seizures, but I think that "E" has a better chance of going away if it was brought on in childhood. Someone correct me if I am wrong! Anything I have read says that. But maybe you will be a lucky one and it will go away on its own. Lindy

Hi JB31-
I'm 29, I think that I have had seizures for about a year 1/2. I was diagnosed at the beginning of this year. I have those spells of feeling really strange, but then I don't remember what happens during the seizure. I am on dilantin 425 mg a day. When I first started getting these I thought it was because of blood pressure too but Doc thinks different. And I don't know what happens after a certain point. I would talk to your doc about it and see what they say.
As far as it leaving when your older I'm not sure; having started later.
I do remember right around the time I was diagnosed I was seeing bright spots through out the day. I mentioned this to the neuro, and he told me that it wasn't part of the seizure, probably a migraine starting.
I don't know if I helped you or confused you but Good luck and hope you are feeling better.

Felicia

Thanks for the replies. I talked to the doctor the last time I went about these spells I was having at work, but haven't talked to him about the recent one. At the time I had the others at work I was under stress due to work. I did have a sinus headache the day I had that spell at work. I think the colored spots are what they call an aura. It's my warning sign that I'm fixen to feel real bad. I have had this feeling while driving and pulled off the road and waited it out until I felt like it was safe to drive. My co workers tell me when I have these dizzy spells at work I look like I'm day dreaming.
Last year I changed doctors because I was having alot of these small spells and it seemed to me that my doctor wasn't really doing the best he could do. I went to my new doctor and they ran some test EEG, MRI's etc. They said they were concerned about an abnormal blood vessel on my brain and sure enough it scared the crap out of me. I had to wait a couple of weeks and go back for another test to check it out and it turned out to be a scar from birth.
It might be that my Diliatin is not working anymore and I might need to change medicine. My doctor did change my dosage from 300mg to 400mg a day until they checked my level and it was high so now I take 3 pills one day and 4 the next, back and forth.
I'm glad there are websites like this with message boards to talk about things like this. It makes me feel better to let it out and get replies and advice. Thanks........
