Just a question. Has anyone had repeated episodes of eye redness and/or irritation while using Yasmin or other bc pills? I'm looking for a connection. Thanks.

I was on yasmin for a year and I never had chronic red eye. Hope this helps you!

I was on Yasmin and had horrible dry eyes/eye irritation which made me unable to wear my contacts eventually... Yeah and then I quit the pill about 8 months ago and my eyes feel fine now!

YES! YES! YES! I started Yasmin one year ago and after about 4-5 months, the redness started in. Seems to be related to dryness, but the opthamologist(s) (I've been to two) cannot pinpoint for sure. I have a job where I am at the computer most of the day, but the redness is really bad and makes me very self-conscious. I have tried several diff. eye steroid drops, flaxseed oil suppl, theratears, genteal gel, restasis, have punctal plugs in my lower ducts, and use lubricating drops constantly. It has not changed the redness and symptoms seem to be getting worse.

Next step... buh-bye Yasmin.

Let me know your thoughts on this!

I haven't had a problem with it, but I know ANY pill can cause eye dryness, especially for contacts users. It isn't just Yasmin. You can always try a new pill but just keep in mind that it's a side effect for any birth control pill. Maybe you will be luckily though! I do wear colored contacts occasionally and they aren't comfortable to me, but my eyes don't get dry unless I'm outside in the wind. My contacts actually seem to make my eyes very watery since I'm still not very used to them and new to contacts.
