Hi;
Sometimes my heart races and stays that way for hours! Examples: new years day, after staying up till late, I woke up and my heart was at about 120 BPM and stayed that way for about 5 hours. Then, about a week later, I finished hitting golf balls at the driving range and it took 2 hours to get back to normal. Another week later, my wife and I had "relations" and it took 4 hours to drop to normal. Does this sound heart-related, or like a Panic Attack? My rate is almost always right at 80bpm. If I do a high-impact sport, it goes to about 140, then returns to normal fairly quickly. I am 36yo with no prior problems.
Thanks.

you must see a doctor. any changes in how your heart is beating must be taken seriously. panic attacks, smoking etc can cause the heart to speed up but irregular heart beat can be related to other more serious conditions such as thyroid and other vascular problems. please check it out.

Thanks for the reply. My Dr. took blood samples and said my thyroid checked out fine. Recently I had an EKG and it checked out okay as well. My Dr. thinks it is due to Panic Attacks.
I have an appt. with a Cardiologist in a couple weeks. I am not convinced my problem is due to Panic Attacks.

Hi...
When it is racing, the beats are regular. I hope I am understanding your question correctly. When it is normal, it rises and falls with eating, standing, etc. When it is racing, the beats seem to be evenly spaced apart and 'regular'.
