I used to work in a very high stress environment.. and due to stress and anxiety woudl find myself biting the side of my thumb, biting the skin off. I did this for about a year... and never allowed it to heal.. Now it refuses to heal. It's been an open wound for over two years. I put band-aids on it.. and initially it works, but then after a few days, the area gets really dry and starts to break open again... and never heals just stays open.

it's almost like ezcema now.. it's just dry flaky and constantly cracking, a little bit seems to be developing on my pinky

I would love any feedback on this one, as I am absolutely bafffled.

I have something very similar occuring on the back of my heel, it gets realy dry and starts cracking.... and this too is not healing either. Im 27 and cant understand whats going on. I swear it feels like I have leporsy or something.

In addition to the cracking skin, now I have little pink pimple they are comming up, on the back of my calves it's little pimples but like tight clusters of pimples almost like little blisters my hypo-condriac self did a goog search and it mentions similar looking features to HIV infection... I've lived a very high-risk lifestyle... regardless my mind needs to be put at ease...I woul appreciate any feedback..

Thatnks for all your feedback there are many saints on this board.... and you all provdide great relief for the masses

Hi purple,

hope you get some answers from someone in the know in the forum.

I'm not sure what it is. It is possible it has got infected with fungi. If it was open for a long time it could of easily got infected. Things like clotrimazole can be used for fungal conditions.

I would definitely go to the doctor if you haven't. They probably could give you something to help it heal, and hopefully identify the other skin prob.

best wishes

the only thing I can suggest is to keep it well moisturised with a petroleum jelly based moisturiser and to get to your doctor.
hope this helps
