Is it possible that caffiene will bring on a sez?

The last time I went to the neuro he told me not to drink any caffiene, however he would not give me a deffinate answer if it would bring one on.

I really don't drink that much, I might have a glass of soda, or a cup of that fancy coffee that you get a gas stations.

I have switched now to no caffiene in my diet (as much as I can help it). The sezs haven't stopped but I was wondering if anyone elses dr told them the same thing or if anyone has noticed that if they do drink caffiene that it could bring one on?

I have been told not to, many years go. But I didn't pay attention. As a computer freak I live (and lived worse in the past) on caffine. The prior years I would intake a LOT and it did not increase my seizures.

Having said my case, HOWEVER, caffine IS a stimulant and is a factor known to increase seizures in some patients cases. Same for substances that depress the nervous system such as alcohol. Coffee (the caffine most likely) is another that they would rather we avoid. Another in the soda family is artificial sweetners.

It is a case by case situation and depends on how frequent your seizures are and if you have triggers that cause them.

I cut back on coffee to 2 cups of half-caf a day. I was really careful with alcohol at first. After a year when I was on vacation in France, I drank quite a bit, a glass of wine at lunch, 2 at dinner, and maybe a cocktail. I had no seizures at all during that period! I limit myself to 2 drinks at a time, usually spaced pretty far apart, and not close to my meds. Everyone is different though.
