I'm thinking of changing from the Pill (seasonale) to an IUD, probably Mirena. Has anyone done this? Did you still have weight gain, or acne issues? I'm thinking since I'm already taking hormones every day, decreasing those hormones would mean less side effects for me...but it would be nice to hear from others. Thanks!

i went from the patch to nothing then to mirena. i have gained over 20 lbs since summer 06 and have major mood swings. everyone is different though so i can't tell you if you would like it or not. i would read up on these boards on iuds and get your own perspective.

good luck to ya :)

I went from orthro trycyclen lo to Mirena IUD, I've had it in for about 2 weeks. So far I really cant tell any different besides feelings tired but I think thats normal with a 4 month old baby. I do feel bloated though you knowhow you feel right before you start your period, that feeling hasnt gone away yet. I hope that it does!? I guess all women's bodies are different so what is okay for one is completely different for another. I havent had any weight gain yet, but I havent ever gained any in the past either. Having it put it was simple, it felt just like a regular pap test just lasts a little longer to insert it, but I was really surprised.

Actually I have my brochure here with me that my dr gave me. It says only 3.5% at 3months had problems with acne then after 5 years 1.8% so the chances are very low. Mood changes 3m 2.5% 5 years less then 1%. Just an interesting tidbit after reading the IUD (Mirena) is more affective than a tubal ligation  wow. Now this is from the brochure: "Large studies have shown that Mirena has no effect on weight gain...Mirena contains levonorgestrel (hormone) instead of estrogen so you can be worry-free from estrogen side effects."

Hope this helps, good luck!
