I just wanted to let anyone know before buying expensive orthodics. I had horrible foot pain had a hard time in the morning when I got out of bed. My doc said I had plantar fascitis and really bad heel spurs. He gave me exercises to do but it didn't really help. My brother had the same problem and he told me about Walkfit orthodics by Phase 4. He bought them on an online auction site. Well for $20 it was worth it to try them. Since them I have seen them at Target right next to the Dr. Scholls arch supports.

These orthodics are a hard plastic that have different levels of arch support to choose from. I chose the highest arch.

Well after 1 year and 1/2 I am happy to report that I started walking four miles a day shortly after I purchased these. My feet are completely heeled and they feel great. It does take a couple of days to get used to them.

Just thought I would share this before anyone spends alot of money on expensive orthodics or surgery.

I have to agree. For the price, the Phase 4's are hard to beat. I have an assortment of OTC orthotics and while the Phase 4's aren't my favorites, they hold 2nd place. My DPM is the one who actually told me about them.

So, don't keep us in suspense-- Which ones hold first place?!

My favs are by a company called Step Forward out of Washington state. A lot more expensive but they fit easily in a wide variety of shoes. They send you a kit to take an impression of your foot and will size you accordingly. Similar to a Good Feet store if you are familiar with those.

For the price, and especially to see if orthotics are going to be a workable solution for your foot, the Phase 4's get my vote.

I've also had custom orthotics, used SuperFeet insoles, Hapad products, and gotta love 'em Birkenstocks. (I did mention I've tried lots of different orthotics over the years, didn't I?) Not to mention completely revamping my shoe wardrobe. If I really thought about how much $$$ I've spent on these bum feet of mine over the years I'd cry.

(Lordy - hope this post doesn't violate the product endorsement rules?!)
