Hi,

I was told that I have IBS about 8 months ago. It's not severe IBS, just occassionall diarhea and I'm usually constipated. It gets worse during my period, which I beleive is normal. My problem is that or the past week I get stomach pain within minutes of eating. When it first happened I was eating greasy food so I thought that was why it was happening. For the past few days I have been eating soup and the same thing happens, I take a few bites and I get cramping in my stomach. It can last a few hours and is not extreme pain but enough to keep me on the couch until it passes. Is this normal with IBS or is it something else? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Charandray

Well, it can be part of IBS, or it could be just a bug.
If it doesn't clear up in the next couple of days, it's quite possibly something you're eating that is causing some kind of irritation to your system. The next step is process of elimination. Keep in mind that if you eat someting that upsets your gut, it can persist for days even if you've only eaten it once. It can take a week or so for the discomfort to totally leave your system. I would suggest finding a good nutritionist and maybe even consulting your doctor if the problem persists.
