I am on Desogen birth control. On Jan 4th, my boyfriend and I had sex but used a condom as another form of protection (we always do). The condom broke and he ejaculated inside me. The condom had spemacide on it. I was a little anxious, but he assured me everything was fine. I went to the bathtub and washed up. I went into my placebo pills starting Jan. 7th. I had my period on Jan 10th. It was a normal period, as far as I could tell. I was still a little worried because I heard you can still get pregnant on bc pill and have a period. On the night of January 14th( the night I took my first new active pill), I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. Should I still be worried about this? I have to also let you guys know, I never missed a birth control pill during this month.. My boyfriend thinks I'm being crazy, but I guess I am super paranoid because my 7 best friends have already had kids- most unplanned.... ugh....

CrimsonRose -- If you used the pill and never missed, used spermacide (I know the condom broke), had a period AND had a negative pg test....chances are very, very, very good that you are NOT pregnant!

Also, if you had intercourse 6 days before your period, you were likely not in your fertile time of your cycle anyway. And 4 days after your period started you would almost certainly have a positive pg test if you were pg. The chances of it being a false negative are extremely slim.

The whole point for spermicide is to kill the sperm in case it gets in you. You're on the pill, used a condom and spermicide, and your PG test is negative. Yeah, I'd say you're pretty safe.
You're lucky you can even use spermicide, many women, myself included, have a terrible allergic reaction to the stuff and therefore can't use it at all.

Thanks for all of your replies.. I know my fear is unfounded, but it's just all these stories I hear of women getting pregnant on the pill.. I guess they get to me after a while..
I was also asking if I took the pregnancy test at the right time, meaning it wasn't too early to take one?

You can take a pg test as early as the first day of a missed period. Some even earlier. So if you took it on day four of your period, that was plenty late enough.

I've bought PG tests that said I could use them up to 4 days before my scheduled period day. The last time I used one, I used it the day I was expecting my period and it came up negative, and then later in the day, my period came.
The point is, they sell them now and have it written on the outside of their packaging that you can use them up to 4 days before your actual period is scheduled.
