I was prescribed neurontin for pain management and have posted on the PM board. I understand that neurontin is usually used for controlling seizures and perhaps epilepsy.
I am trying to come off of neurontin after 6 months and have been taking 2400 mg /day - (600mg x 4) Does anyone have any experience with coming off this drug that they could passs along? I understand one could have seizures if this is not done correctly.
Thank you for any help you can give.....:)

I guess I'm too late to answer your post. I've been away from the board for awhile. Did you come off Neurontin yet? I was taking 4800 mgs at one time & came down 1 capsule every few days until I was off it. I did it very slowly. Hope it was successful!

Contact your Dr and tell him/her that you want to stop it. They'll give you a schedule to follow to lower the dosages properly.

Thanks sammi & cher. I'm in a holding pattern of 1800/day. I was originally at 2400/day. I feel really depressed when I try to go lower, and strange things seem to happen to me, i.e. feel terrible, heart attack-like symptoms, shortness of breath, etc. So I'm keeping it at 1800 for now and hope to speak to my dr about it next visit.
Thanks for posting....:)

Be sire and chat with your dr-tell him-call his office and explain it to his nurse-she can pass the word on. Cherie
