I may have endometriosis and/or cyst. My obgyn advised that I take loestrin 24 to calm my monthly pains pms and whatever else. His theory is if the pill works for my symptoms then take the pill over possible surgery. I also wear contacts which seem irritated but my obygn said that he has not had a complaints regarding contact lenses.

One month into it and I want to stop taking it. I feel more irritable, tired, bloated and lately fatigued. I checked in with my obgyn and he said he never had anyone with these symptoms.

It has helped my pains but I do not like to side effects I feel. Anyone else have feed back? I am debating on taking it or not and looking for other women's input that take it.

Thanks in advance.:)

Loestrin 24 was the first type of bcp that I was prescribed and I am now on my 7th month of taking it. During the first month I had the exact same symptoms as you...especially fatigue and irritability! Even though this was my first birth control experience I was ready to quit it entirely.

The side effects went away after the second month (pretty much everything went away after the first except for the fatigue), but now I haven't had any side effects since November. Like I said, this is my first time on bc so I cannot compare one pill to another, but I just wanted to share my experience with the Loestrin.

You can give it another month. It may help, it may not. Frankly, I'm now against all forms of hormonal birth control simply because of side effects they don't tell you about at the doc. I took Loestrin 24 for about 2 months but stopped it as it was only exacerbating side effects I had gotten on Ovcon 35--huge water retention, zero sex drive, moody, anxious, depressed, ravenous appetite. All forms of hormonal birth control have the potential to give you side effects like you are listing in your post. They may go away after your body adjusts, they may not. Another pill may help or it may not. The only thing that helped me was going off the pill completely.

Thanks, I told my dr about all my symptoms and read about them but he told me they are not related and loestrin 24 is a low dose.

If I do have endometrosis though I would rather have that removed than take a bc pill.

mkgal,

Docs often deny that these side effects are caused by or exacerbated by the pill. But, if you feel there is a chance they are, stop the pill a couple of months and see if they go away...

I got off of it after a week. It made me cry non-stop!!! A stranger would just LOOK at me cross-eyed and I'd start bawling!!! It was the weirdest thing...

I just started Loestrin about 3 weeks ago and I had similar syptoms with irritability and fatigue. BUT I'm beginning to feel better with more sleep and some good old fashioned excercise. If it's giving you major problems though, I'd suggest something different.
