I was reading an article on vitamins and it stated that if you were on a statin you should not take extra vitamin C or E without first checking with your doctor. Does anyone know anything about this? Are there vitamins you need to avoid if on a statin?

That's standard palaver:
I've even seen "Don't begin a walking program until you consult your doctor."

I think some of life's decisions can be made quite well without the intervention of the AMA.

Doctors are hungry for business and vitamin companies add the little warning to cover themselves...AND to make it sound like the vitamins are actually GOOD for something in amounts over the RDA.

In reality, a doctor is not likely to know any more about adding extra Vitamin E or C to a statin regimen than your mailman is. Likely answer is "It probably won't hurt you."

<But please, don't take this post seriously without consulting your doctor>:jester: :blob_fire :D
