My 3.5 y.o. son had a typical cold with fever and stuffy/runny nose last week. 5 days ago the fever went away, however, now he has a low temperature, as low as 95.1 F while sleeping and in the range of 96.1 to 98.1 during the day. He is sleeping about 3 to 4 more hours than normal, he gets cold night sweats and is extra grumpy especially when he first wakes up. His appetite is still real low (about half what it normally was) and he has lost about 2 pounds. He says he feels good when he's up and about and that nothing hurts. The pediatrician does not seem concerned (took him in the day before yesterday), checked him physically and said he looks fine, that his temp was a little low and thinks my thermometers (3 of them, mind you and I have used them all on him) must be faulty.

Should I be worried? I can't help but think that something has to be off. He is just not quite his self even when playing.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes a very low temperature can be worse than a high fever and indicative of an infection. How are you taking the temperature, orally, axillary, or rectally? If his temp is still really low, and he continues to have symptoms of illness, I would insist on blood work.
