I have tried every over the counter meds. for a burning/itch around my ankles going up to my knees and don't know what is causing this. I have read posts with this type of case. Can this be from side effects from statins? This started durning my consumpsion of statins for many years until the side effects got to me. I have not been on statins now for over 8 months, and this still persists to varing degrees, by that I mean it stops for days at a time and starts up again. Legs really gets hot under the covers at night
There is no outward rash, redness, or scaling which makes me think going to a dermatologist will be worth it. Can't see any discoloration or anything as my legs look normal.
Reason for this post -- Has anyone had this and if yes, I do need some advice to get some relief.
Thanks
Have you talked to your dr. about it, and if so, what did he/she have to say? Many folks have different side effects from statins, but it also could be something else. I would definitely ask your dr. and also ask if going to a dermatologist would be worth your while. You need some relief.
Good luck.....

Thanks for your response- the answer is not yet as I have an appnt. coming up.
I can remember sometime back there were quite a few who complained of hot burning and needle like pain in the lower part of the legs while on statins, and now I am wondering if the Red Yeast Yeast can be the culpret as it has statin properies, and while on statins I had hot burning at night , so this may be the problem.
thanks fpr your onput.
I do not any, repeat, any outward signs on my skin to show the dermotologist if I did go to him. The only thing that comes to mind would be to stop the RYR and see if it stops and that may be I will do.
Well usually when I hear of the burning and sometimes itchyness, I think of hubby and his PN. He developed that after almost 7 years on statins, then became diabetic, so they blame it on that. Only thing is, he had the PN before being diagnosed with diabetes, so to me the combo is what messed him up. Like you, there is no visable signs of a rash, just burning and now numbness and he thumps his legs half the nite on the mattress trying to get to sleep till the pain pills kick in. Last year it is going into his hands, so he drops alot of things, especially little things like screws etc. when trying to work on things, as he can't feel anything, yet he feels pain.
Hopefully you get some kind of answer, as it most definitely could be the Rice stuff,as you said, it is a natural statin. Keep us posted and good luck..
