Hello,
In feb 2004 a cyst developed on the bridge of my nose (smack bang centre situated where the bone and gristle starts) its about 3/4 of a cm in size. Basically it stands out like a sore thumb due to its location being so prominent.
I didn’t do anything about it for a year in the hope it would just disappear in its own time. Exactly a year after it appears in Feb. 2005 i went to the doctors. He confirmed it was just a cyst, nothing more than that. i asked if it could be removed due to the fact its in such a noticeable place (think of a witch with a big wart on her nose from them story books and cartoons as a kid). I find people i talk to end up focused on it. Anyway my doctor told me to come back in a years time if its still there.
So i went back to the doctors this morning a year later just as he said and this cyst as never gotten any smaller. I reminded him its now been two years and that i want to have this removed if possible. He told me they won’t do it as it is only to save vanity and its not an essential operation. The NHS won’t do this for me. Got me very angry seeing as ive had this on my nose for 2 years and been fobbed off for a year by my doctor who could of told me this a year ago but decided to just get rid of me in the hope i would probably never return with the problem.
He told me if i really wanted it removed i should seek a private plastic surgeon. He told me i would be looking at around £200 just for a quick consult with a private doctor who could arrange the surgery. Then could be anything up to £1000 just to have it minor operation !!
Can’t believe this, he told me there was no other treatment (no pills or lotion) to get rid of it. And financially im in no position to pay £1200 on this. When you think a cheap boob job costs £2000 these days. And you hear of women getting this done on for free on the NHS. I cant get a cyst removed from my face.
Anyone out there got any advice on this??
