View Full Version : CoQ10 or other supplements?

Do you guys reccomend any?
I have heard and been told to get CoQ10 but ive read different mg reccomendations.
My current doctor really isnt for me so im switching soon and getting a second opinion.
Hopefully she will reccomend some supplements for me especially since im dieting and dont want to be missing out on essential vitamins/nutrients.

My doctor advised me that CoQ10 isn't really worth the money... He said I would be way ahead of the game by eliminating unhealthy foods... chips, soda, cakes, ice cream ect... and working out 3 times per week for 30 minutes.

He said that the above is infinitely more valuable than supplements.

By the way... If your on a diet than your nutritian should be better than ever. Proper diet means... replacing unhealthy foods with heathy ones... fruits, vegistables, cerials and so on.

Pop a good one-a-day type Vitamin pill. I think everyone who is dieting will find this a good precaution against running short of a particualr vitamin.

Co-Q10:
It's expensive and the claims made for it might have some validity for people on statins who sufffer muscle pain. Otherwise I think it's an unnecessary supplement since every cell in your body makes it.

Personally, I lean in the direction of thinking that people who are on statins and can afford it should take CoQ10. It may not help, but it isn't going to hurt, and there is some evidence that statins deplete the level of CoQ10 in your body. If you're going to take it, 90 to 120 mg per day is probably the most you need.
