Ive been on a liquid diet since July, its a well known balanced quite healthy diet, which is backed up nutritionally by Doctors and Nutritionists all over the Country (UK).

Its been a fantastic diet for me as i had to have all my choices taken away from me to lose any weight. I have lost 3.5 stone and feel and look great, i dropped 4 dress sizes. But now im having some problems, i am supposed to start eating foods very slowly and in the order the Company want me to eat it for the next 12 weeks. Just sometimes i feel like stuffing some bread in my mouth and have just done that, but had the most awful indigestion, im just finding it hard to tolerate any food now, my stomach really is very sensitive.

Im worried i will never be able to tolerate food properly again, any suggestions ?

I have never been on one of those liquid diets, but its great that you have found it worked for you. Maybe try something lighter then bread though for your solid food. something like mashed up banana or some low-fat yoghurt might be the way to go. Your stomach has probably actually become smaller and you will not feel comfortable eating the amount of food you used to. hang in there.

I would also try something other than bread. My boyfriend said that after he does a low-carb diet, bread upsets his stomach.. so maybe this happens after not eating it even on liquid diets. Some people's stomachs are sensitive to dairy also, so just be careful with certain dairy products. Milk and certain cheeses bother me, but I'm usually fine with yogurt. Have you tried eating any fruits or veggies? I would stay away from anything too acidic or flavorful at first.

A liquid diet since JULY? Wow - that is pretty extreme. I'm glad you are finally starting to reintroduce solid food. I understand that your diet was fully supported by your doctors/nutritionists, but I am just not a big advocate of liquid diets, in general. I think people get a false impression that you need to "cleanse" your body or clean it out, but really, there is no need for this. Your body isn't like a sewage container that gets backed up - it knows how to keep itself clean and healthy and it does not need any help. Trust me, I've researched.

That being said, you are still facing the same problem. My recommendation would be to eat a bunch of small meals - just sort of graze -rather than trying to eat big meals all of the sudden. Your body is probably going to have a lot of troubles with digestion at first, but this shoudl definitely pass -don't worry. Just don't go back to all liquids right away b/c you think your body can't handle real food -that would only make things worse. Push through it.

Good luck and keep us posted!
