View Full Version : vomiting while voiding, bleeding - anyone have this?

Hi all. I am just wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me. This is going to be long...

I was diagnosed with IBS in 1991, after a bad colon spasm. Had spasms a few times a year. While they were very painful and lasted 4-6 hours, and wiped me out for 2 days, I now long for that era. I started having chronic constipation in 1996 and began bloating badly in 2000. I'd only be able to void a couple times a week, and then it would be several times in the 1 day (what I call "bathroom days"). By the end of the day, I'd feel sick. Around 2001, I started having worse bathroom days, but only every 4 months of so. It was more painful than usual, I'd get hot, sweaty, and tired, my throat would constrict, and I would salivate like mad. The 1st couple times, I thought I was gonna puke, and I jumped up to face the toilet (eww!). But I didn't puke, so when it happened again (and again and again over the years), I would just spit into a towel or the sink b/c I knew I was *not* going to puke. I was "treated" for years by various GPs without much success. So in the fall, I started going to a gastro who works in an "abdominal and pelvic health program." She has run tons of tests (and what weird tests!), and I now know that I don't have colon cancer, polyps, crone's, colitis, celiac's, lactose intolerance, or bacterial overgrowth. She now thinks the constipation and bloating may be caused by my antidepressant. I knew that was a possiblity, and I may consider switching, but it makes me nervous b/c most I have tried have not worked, and having me unmedicated is not pretty. But my doc is still exploring the other symptoms. I do have some inflammation in my colon (but not IBD), but that's all we know right now. ANYWAY, the last time I had the pain/sweaty/hot/mouth-watering/throat-constricting bathroom day, I actually DID throw up. Boy, was I shocked. That was in November. And today, it happened again. During my 3-year-old's birthday party, no less. :jester: And now, I am bleeding a little. I checked as well as I could, and it does seem internal (i.e. not my anus). It's a very good thing that I just happen to have an appointment with my gastro Monday (haven't seen her in a few months), so I will see what she has to say. But this is freaking me out a little, and pissing me off. Why oh why, when going to the bathroom is hard enough, do I now have to VOMIT simultaneously? I am having a little pity party right now (boo hoo).

Has anyone out there had this happen? I just don't know what to make of it. Also, I can't have any invasive tests right now b/c I am pregnant (and don't worry about the antidepressant - I am on a safe one). Doc mentioned at one point a test involving swallowing a radioactive tablet or something (I *think* that's what it was), and I won't be doing that anytime soon! Plus I plan to nurse, so it will be a while before I can try any newer meds, if there are any that would even help me.

Well, thanks for reading this far, and please tell me if you have heard of this before. I will go drink my broth now (no birthday cake for me :( ). Good night!

Well, I just did a search on here for "vomit" and found that this is not unusual. Maybe I should have done that *before* I posted - lol! Anyway, I'd still appreciate any advice you have.
TIA-
