My MIL has a bright reddish/purpleish type of rash all around her breast. THe doctor mentioned it being a type of "marble" breast cancer but I have never heard of this and cannot find information on it. She is having a mammogram done in February. I would think that if this were cancer, that she would have the mammogram sooner.
Has anyone ever seen or heard of this kind of cancer?

Have you checked with the American Cancer Society online? There's a portion that allows you to ask questions. I've used it myself. They're good about responding.
Also, you can ask the oncologist what this diagnosis means and how to find information.
I hope this helps,
Nikki

I am not sure about the reddish area but you might look up medullary carcinoma or Mucinous (colloid) carcinoma. These are the only two I know of that are like a marble.

Hello, My friend was diagnosed with inflamatory cancer recently. It is extremely aggressive and has moved from her breast area to her stomach area in a matter of just a few months. It first appeared as a rash and she wasn't very concerned about it. She was already being treated for a lump they found previously. She had a lumpectomy and was being treated with chemo and radiation, and while recovering from that this marble-like rash appeared. Have your friend check it out right away.
