I am 13 days post op and STILL extremely tired and somewhat weak. I have just started eating a regular diet (but not a lot) about 3 days ago (except for the really hard stuff) but otherwise I eat ok. I continue to feel very tired. I hate this feeling. Any ideas?

That's pretty normal. For me, I think it took about 20 days before I started seeing any improvement in my tiredness, because this surgery really takes everything out of you. I mean, people don't even realize how debilitating it is when you have extreme pain for at least 10 days non-stop. It is very tiring and exhausting.

Pretty much, all you can do is try to take it easy and rest as much as possible. I had to go back to work on day 15. I went back too soon. I was so exhausted and so tired the entire week, I really just needed to rest. But when I got home at night, I'd crawl into bed and either read or watch tv and just lay around. I didn't want to make myself feel worse.

Just try to take it easy as much as you can while you're around the house. Don't try doing too much too soon. It can be really discouraging, but trust me, you'll start feeling better next week. As long as you try to rest when you are able to.

Thank you so much for your reply. I guess I feel a little more normal about being so tired. It's just I am the mom and I take care of everything I am not use to sitting around and not being able to cook dinner without having shaky legs. I am thankful to have a great husband and he insists I sit down and get better.

I guess I will just have to take it easy for a couple of more weeks before I try to be supermom again.

I am sure I said it some where, but I took at least a nap a day until day 21 post operation. I was glad I could go back to work part time after day 14 PO. Otherwise, I would have passed out and drueled(sp) all over the key board. :p
