I am 47 years old and my skin has always been very dry. My feet get so dry in the winter that they sometimes crack and I get alligator skin on my legs. I go through gallons of lotion. But about 2 years ago, the strangest thing started happening on my face. I began having oiliness around my T-zone with redness along the sides of my nose and greasy white heads. Occasionally one will pop out around my mouth or chin. The rest of my skin is still very dry. In the summer, I actually have to use oil-control products. I know typically as you age your skin will get drier but mine's going in the opposite direction on my face. I have used the same skin care for years but I did try other products just to make sure and I still broke out, even with Clinique. I don't have any other symptoms of menopause but just wonder if this could be hormonal. Curious if anyone else has experienced this.

Hi Raes mom,
I have known other woman who get trouble with their skin around the menopausal years. Have you looked up on the net about Rosacea? I think that can come out as spots aswell as redness. It might be that?

I had thought about Rosacea as my father had it pretty bad. But after reading about the symptoms, my breakouts really don't sound like Rosacea. The redness is only in the crease along each side of my nose and the breakouts are whiteheads, not red bumps. I really think it's hormonal and I probably need to see a dermatolgist.

yes, good idea to get appointment with derm. You're probably right, hormones can be responsible for a lot.
