anyone have any proven results from detoxifying the liver?
reading lots of seemigly common sense articles and papers attributing many of the fibro symptoms to toxicity of the liver...

There might be a connection, I'm not sure, but fm symptoms are very vague--some people believe fm has a direct relation to aids, merely because of a few common symptoms.
A lot of fm symptoms are also common in viruses, or certain cancers, so it's hard to say when the symptoms really do match up.

Hi Bopper,
Cleanses are the "in" thing ... some people are getting wealthy off the promos. I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find some testimonials from people who cured their fibro with a liver cleanse.
The liver is, itself, a primary organ of detoxification. Now, there are some things that can help support that process (including lifestyle issues), but a lot of the "liver cleanses" are just high-cost laxatives in fancy packages. People who are constipated can address that most economically by purchasing some psyllium husk fiber from a bulk food store. The other category of liver cleanse is the oil & lemon one ... which has spectacular results (in the toilet) until you realize that most of the "stones" are the result of a reaction between the oil & the liver's natural bile acids.
Now, I have seen a little prelim. research suggesting that people with fibro may have a defect in the production & cycling of certain enzymes in our bodies that normally protect us from our (ever-increasing) exposures to environmental toxins. There are some nutrients that support those enzymes, but a clean, healthy diet (no junk???) will support that to the extent one is able. The nutrients themselves may not be sufficient if an individual has a genetic metabolic defect.
If you are interested in an alternative approach to fibro, I recommend 2 books by Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, From Fatigued to Fantastic and Pain Free 1 - 2 - 3. Both books discuss many tried & true alternative & self-help treatments for fibro, along with conventional medical approaches.
But I do hope, if you decide to go through w/the cleanse, that you will let us know how helpful it was.
Best wishes.

I'd suggest a colonics (with water), and a herbal 7 day colon cleanse, and an internal cleanse which cleans all the major digestive organs: Lungs, auxilliary gland, bladder, pancreas, kidneys, spleen, liver, sm colon, lg colon... It's expensive about 300 but it is worth it.
Toxins make holes in the good lining of your colon, then those toxins including parasites even microscopic ones go to the liver and into the blood stream... This is where you get many diseases, just to name a few: fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrom, liver disease etc, cancer...Pls. let me know what you're going to do

please check with your doctor before you do this. cleansing is hard on the body. it is not a choice i would choose. this is your body and you alone must decide.
while i was attending herbal school we studied body cleansing. based on what i learned there i would not do it. a healthy lifestyle does more and is not a shock to your system. water. that is what i keep my insides clean with. lots of water.
please be careful.
peace,

Hello friends, I don't post very often lately. Either the work gets
harder or I'm getting slower.
As for cleaning the body, the body has a wonderful cleansing mechanism
created before we are born. A balance of food, exercise, rest, plenty of
water and good medical care usually keeps us running smoothly. The less
we do to upset this balance, the better our bodies function. I have 76 years
of experience, but your doctor is your best guide.(somebody said these
companies are getting rich....I want to amen that statement.)
I hope February is good to all of us!
