It is that time of the month for me. I have always had really bad back pain before and during this time. Now, since I have switched birth control I am cramping badly. On top of being 5 weeks post op from three surgeries I'm pretty much in hell (sarcastic)!:blob_fire I get so tired, my back hurts severely, and I cramp on top of all of that. Does this affect you worse with your back problems?

Ollie - I had a hysterectomy at 24 but I can only imagine that the pain would definitely make it worse without a doubt. I am so sorry you are hurting and dealing with this during your early stages of recovery.

I got my period the day of my surgery and I had it last week. I was crampy and back ached a little more. Not all that much fun either. That time of the month makes my whole body more sensitive to aches and pains. Feel better soon.

Hi Ollie,
Mine got worse after my surgeries, my doc said that he has about 50% of his female patients that get worse then. He said that it can be the swelling and bloating that put pressure on your lower spine. I don't know if thats the case but it made sense to me. Hope this helps.

My pain wasn't worse than other months, just some cramping and general yuckiness, but the amount of bleeding was horrendous. It was almost impossible to keep up with. I have to get up a couple of times during the night so I don't leak into the sheets. Sorry if that's TMI, but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else.

Thanks,
Emily

Hi Emily,
Not too much just to painful here. If that continues you may want to call your gyn. and see if it's something yous hould be concerned with.

Good Luck

My back pain definitely gets worse during the time of the month with the cramps....ALOT! Apparently some of the nerves that run to the uterus, etc, could have been affected by anterior surgery. Just what we need, more pain!

A couple of years ago when was going to a chiro I mentioned this to him and immediately sent me to my gyn wanting to check for endometriosis(?spelling?). She said she didn't think I had it but the only way to tell was to do an invasive procedure to look and see if it was present. I chose not to do that and deal with the horrible back pain. I also chose to stick with this BC because it causes me A LOT LESS moodiness although I do cramp more, have more back pain, and bleeding. The moodiness made me seem bipolar though. So I would rather go through all this than the moodiness. I can't stand that. Thanks for everyone's replies.

I also had a hysterectomy but I know when i don't feel good like the flu or a bad cold my back kills me. I think that it being your time could make you feel worse with your back and healing. I am thinking of you and hope you feel better. Take it easy and try heat packs. I got a microwavable heating pad that after a quick Zap stays hot for a long time it feels so good on the back. Hope you feel better tomorrow

Yep, the menstral cycle indeed is worse for me than ever before. I rarely had any problems other than a few "bad" ones per year. Now, each month is "bad" and it is also more drawn out as well in time.

A week before, my back aches more, my nerve pain becomes more active in my legs and feet, I swell up like a bull frog. Then a week later.. what fun! So much fun, each month is an encore performance. This is one act I'd like to miss!

Sounds fairly unanimous that this is an additional pain generator for us women.

Hi Tammy,
You just described my monthly, too bad thats one of the things we all share, it's one thing I dont' wish on anyone. It's one thing the dr. doesn't tell you about before surgery, wonder why?

I hope your well.

God Bless

Carol
