i am a 24 year old male and i was diagnosed with pvc's or irregular heart beats when i was 21. i used to drink pretty heavily and smkoe cigerettes along with pot. now i have cut back on drinking except for a good glass of red wine or white wine because i'm a chef and need to taste wines to see how they work with food, but drinking heaviliy is out of the picture, and i am trying to quit smoking cigerettes but this has been very hard for me. but ithe real reason i am here is because i still have problems with these irregular heart beats. and a friend suggested taking a zanax to see if that would help and it did it made a whole world of difference i didn't notice the pvcs for a few days. in other word i am worried about this because i am wanting to start a family in the next few years and i want to be around to enjoy the pleasure of having a family and truely fell like i will not make to it the age 40 because of these pvcs. i hear of people getting them but they are usually at least 20 years older than me. does anybody have any input or maybe going through the same thing i am going through please write back.

Yes, I too have them. Scared me to death or at least made me think I was gonna die. I had a different episode with my heart that had me seeing a cardiologist. After that was over and I was on medication for my condition I started getting these heart pauses. It got really, really bad at one point and I wouldn't go to sleep because I was afraid I wouldn't wake up. I spoke to my cardiologist who said this is not a big deal. My heart was in perfect working order and the "PVC'S" were not going to harm me. He said I've probably had them for most of my life but until my episode I just didn't notice them. I have a 4 year old, I was worried about leaving him behind. I made my cardiologist swear that this would not kill me; he actually swore to it. He also recommended I meditate because this could be stress related. Haven't done that BUT since having his word that I would survive they have almost disappeared completely. So stress may be a part of it. You should make an appointment with a Doctor to make sure that it's not anything other than PVC's. Good luck on the smoking - I haven't smoked for 3 1/2 years now and it's so wonderful not have that addiction anymore. Good luck an dlet me know how things work out for you!

thanks for the reply that is really helpful, my job is very stressful i am a chef at a 5 star restaurant and the demand there is very high and i feel that maybe that could be causing alot of the problems. it just sucks having these feelings because they really make you feel like you are gonna have a heart attack any day, but i will go to another cardiologist and see what he says thank you so much for the reply.

STRESS is one of the leading causes of PVC's.
Learn to chill and by the way, please recommend a decent Malbec with Prime Rib...thanks!

I am having arrythmia and I think it is because of speech class. I was very stressed about the last speech becuase my roommate had family over and I did stuff to prepare and missed a few hours study time and I couldn't study while the guests were here. I failed my algebra exam and my speech got a seventy five. I was a basket case because I wasn't prepared and also angry for the interrruption, Next time I am getting a hotel room.

Now that I have arrhyrithia's to this degree that I am dissy, tired and have headaches. I have deecided to get off HRT. I still smoke about 10 cigarettes a day. I exercise everyday and have all my life. If anyone has experienced this heart skipping a beat often please respond.
Thanks, Barbara

Hi Bleverett, I too have arrhythmia, experience irregular heartbeats and occasional headaches. What I would suggest is to stop smoking, I used to be a habitual smoker, along with pot. Also, relax more, try not to worry too much, because, like a lot of my peers have told me, your mind can cause your heart to skip a beat. At first I didn't believe them, but when you don't think about what you have (arrhythmia) and relax, you tend to feel them less. Just think positive and if you experience them any worse, go see a cardiologist, 'cause you never know these days.
