I have been calling and calling trying to get this date and have been getting the run around. It has begun to play on my nerves. Anyhow, today, I was bound and determined to get thru to the surgical nurse scheduler and decided that I would not under any circumstance leave another message. Finally I succeeded and talked with the scheduler. Apparently she is awaiting final confirmation from the hospital for 2/7/07.

I ask that you pray that this date will work out and that I receive confirmation tomorrow. Thanks.

Sorry that you have been getting the runaround -- no fun waiting for stuff like this. I meet with the NS office on Thursday to determine which surgery I will have (ACDF C4-5 and C5-6 vs. ADR C4-5 and C5-6) and schedule. They are scheduling 7 to 10 days out, so looks like January 31 or so for me.

Praying for you getting a date and that all goes well. Keep us posted.

I'm a praying especially hard for this date of surgery for you. I was wondering when your big date is, I had remembered that it was supposed to be the end of the month and hadn't read any post as to wether or not you got your final date.

When this big day finally comes and goes, you can start to being the healing process. We will all be here for you!! :)

Today I found out what the problem is - my doctor has a 6 month backlog of surgical patients. Unbelievable!!

I never thought I would be so excited about having surgery but I am ready to start on my rehab and get myself back up to par. It is hard trying to fulfill my motherly and wife duties. Today I had to drive my children to music lessons and then go to Tae Kwon Do - 2 hours max out of the house max - and you would have thought I ran up and down a mountain. The pain is incredible and I can't straighten up when standing.

Thank you all for your prayers and just listening to me rattle on. I guess tonight is my night to need my friends.

Nobody knows, like I do, how waiting for back surgery can be such a horrible nightmare!.

I was scheduled for my surgery, had completed the pre-registration at the hospital, had the x-ray taken as well as the blood tests completed, I had my bag packed, and everything right down to the doggy babysitter ready. I received a phone call just 2 days before my scheduled surgery stating quote "I am so very, very, very sorry but...you're surgery has been canceled." What! I screamed. Was this some sort of horrible prank?
No it was no prank, the kind woman on the phone went on to explain that my surgeon had taken a sudden leave of absence!. Let me tell you I WAS DEVISTATED!. I had waited 3 months for this surgery and was now being told I was going to have to wait more. I really did not think I was going to be able to wait any longer. They were able to find me another surgeon, but I now had to travel 5 hours to see him. What a mess.
To make a long story short, I had the surgery (a month after my original date) and am now on the road to recovery.

I will pray that you will not have to suffer that long.

PS-Diet Dr. Pepper is the absolute bomb! I live on that stuff. I drink it like water:p

Porter - I drink the Dr. Pepper like water too. If I would quit drinking the pepper, I would be richer. When I stopped smoking 12 years ago, I picked up this habit along with eating red licorce. I guess there are worse things I could have picked up like coke..................................di et coke that is. :D

Hey, not a bad idea! A few years ago we were building a house and had major trouble with the company handling the construction/mortgage loan. We needed the next draft before the builder could continue and they kept putting us off (I'll leave out the details). I called everyday for a week and they just ignored me. Finally, I told the woman that I'd be calling back every half hour for the entire day everyday until it was settled. Half an hour later, they had it all taken care of.

I have been going through the scheduling problems to. I kept hearing call back on this day, to just be told to call back again and again. I guess they don't realize that we are sitting around on hold waiting and the anxiety that goes with it. Yesterday they actually called me and asked me what date and gave me a few days to choose from, I picked the soonest 2/22 and then she said ok, I'll be calling back. So don't know if thats a week from now or next year. Frustrated.

I hope you find out today when it is. I know when I was waiting I was really on edge. Did not like limbo. My doc's office mailed me my date 10 days before no phone call, pre op appt, pre testing appt and surgery date all rolled into one piece of paper. Try to keep yourself busy!!! Take care.
