My mom and dad set up my sleep number bed in my apartment for this morning. So far I'm loving it. I took my pain meds and have slept in for most of the day. I slept on Mama's couch last night which didn't help any at all and I'm also feeling like crap for other reasons so I think I will be in bed the rest of the day and a big part of tomorrow. I didn't walk any today and I kind of feel guilty but my body just couldn't handle it today. I will make up for it tomorrow.

Anyway, just wanting to let you know that I am excited as can be because I have been sleeping on my couch since surgery or a PIECE OF CRAP mattress that killed my back every morning.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day and a peaceful restful night.

Enjoy your sleep number! I have one and I just love it. I have not been able to walk now for three days now because of snow!!! So don't feel guilty, and don't over do it. Sleep peacefully tonight!

Thank you for responding Jenni. I was beginning to think I was being ignored. Just kidding. I know that since I have lying in bed since mid morning my back pain has greatly decreased. Maybe what I need is a couple of days in bed. I think that I have been over doing it but it sure is hard not to. I lying here in bed now waiting my meds to kick in and hopefully help me to drift off to sleep. I wish the rest of you a restful pain free night.

Ollie- Congrats on the new bed and please keep us updated on how it works for you. I need to get a new set. We have the same set from 17 years ago. Probably time for a new set don't you think?

Hi Ollie,

That is great that your parents got it set up for you. I hope it lets you get the rest that you need.

Keep updating us on the new bed. I've heard and read about the sleep number bed, but don't have one and am curious about it. We have the memory top, that you put on top of your mattress. I love it, and it only costed somewhere around $100.00

I hope you have a great night sleep......enjoy and take it easy tomorrow.

Shawley -- are you trying to get me in trouble. LOL

I have been researching this bed and it looks interesting. Isn't there another mattress out there that is supposed to be good?

Yes there is a bed called Dormia ( spelling? ) sleep systems. One of my friends has one and she loves it. Her bed can move from laying position to sitting ( and I think it vibrates ). I have slept on it and it is comfy. I still love my sleep number because I can adjust it. They both cost a pretty penny! But I think any sort of comfort I can get it worth it!

Hi,
Is the dormia an air mattress too? I saw an infaltable wedge you can buy to raise the head of your mattress up and down but dont' know where to find it at. Perhaps you know of it? We are looking for a new mattress for our 16 yr old son, just weighing the options.

After a couple of nights of sleep on my new bed I'M LOVING IT. I can honestly say that a comfortable bed has greatly decreased my pain and soreness. At least that's what I'm counting it up to. I used to toss and turn when sleeping to try to get comfortable. I fell alseep the other afternoon and my bf said I didn't move an inch and I slept for like two and a half hours. My mom said the same thing today when i took my nap. I love this bed. Also, today is my six post op ann. Hurray for me!

I was out testing out new beds at two weeks post op! The numbing agent they used during the surgery hadnt quite worn off by this time and I was doin fabulous then.

Anyway.. we bought a Stearns and Foster and it's horrible and we paid an insane amount of money for it, as just under $3K for this mattress set! I found quilting not even done on part of the mattress, loose stitching all over and the bed is convex (high in the center and slopes down toward the edges). I complained within 2 weeks of owning it. They sent some guy out and noted the issues, but said it wasn't bad enough to replace it. The bed forces us both to sleep on the edge of the bed every night and it's a KING size bed. Shoot.. we should of stayed with our Queen bed. Worst investment we've ever made!

Keep me updated on how you are doing with it. Glad you are sleeing better.

Like Justoneofus, we bought a Sterns and Foster bed and had to replace it within a year. It was a California King, and broke down on each side where we sleep ... the warranty is worthless on these beds, because they say you have to have a 1 1/2" depression, but they measure it with no one in the bed. We would sink down about 2", and my back pain was getting worse and worse (I have 4 -5 mm bulges at L4-L5 and L5-S1, sciatica and now foot drop from the nerve compression).

In early December we received our Sleep Number 7000 bed ... more money than I wanted to spend, but I have to tell you I'll never go back to a standard mattress again. The 7000 model includes about 3" of foam that sits over the air mattresses so it can be made "firm" but still allow your hips and shoulders to sink in ... its hard to explain, but I'm getting the best sleep of my life now. I don't wake up with back pain anymore, so at least the bed isn't aggravating it. We have over a month on it now, so I'm confident we made the right choice.
