I have been taking CoQ10 for about 2 years. Am I reading correctly that Zetia does not allow the absorption of CoQ10? That can't be good. So, I am back to square 1  Guess I will just try to live with my 268 TC.

Okay, I guess my next question is; since Zetia is not a statin, do I still need the CoQ10?
Second question, what other nutrients does Zetia not let your body absorb?
Thanks for your help.

Yes you still need the COq10. BUt here is the problem. You get Coq10 from food you eat also. Zetia seems to stop that absorption, as well as it stops the absorption of Coq10 from supplements. Kind of like you need gas to run the car....but someone has taken out the fuel pump. Its not going to get there no matter how much gas you put in the car. Seems zetia also stops absorption of essential fatty acids, and B12 to name a few. If you have had problems on statins it is most likely you will have problems on zetia too. The most probable cause is the lowering of cholesterol itself, and not just side effects from the medications. Cholesterol is a vital part of the body, and that includes LDL. WIthout cholesterol in your body, your cells would become water soluble, and for all practical purposes you would melt when you got wet.

The above is a quote from a post by Clerky96 . The quote is by H Hone.
I agree with this because I could no longer take StatinS and was put on Zetia and BINGO the same side effects as I had before. It took a few weeks but was back, so now I am just taking a few supplements to try to lower myTC.
I have a history of excessive manufacturing of Chl. by my liver that the body cannot get rid of enough for normal balance. In short --- I have to live with this and at age 81, I really am not too upset with my numbers. So go on and live it up, but avoid all the fatty stuff if you can and take A positive attude in life and enjoy--- GO FOR IT!!

clerky,
Take the ZETIA for a while and see how it treats you.
There is no good evidence that ANYONE actually NEEDS to supplement Co-Q10 but it is the new kid on the block in the Vitamin Shop so it is highly promoted.
It can't do any harm except to your wallet.

There is more than enough evidence that Coq10 is essential to the body. In fact Merck has a patent for Zocor with Coq10 included in it. They, in fact, present a pretty good case to the patent office for the inclusion of Coq10, and what the consequences of Coq10 depletion can be from statin use. Just because there is not as much (in volume) information on Coq10 as there is on cholesterol does not mean does not mean that it is not correct information. The drug companies and doctors have done a good job on telling people that the lower the cholesterol the better. THis is entirely false.
