i've been experiencing alot of pain in both upper arms and shoulder areas as well - sometimes feels like a burning sensation - hurts to raise arms up. it feels like if i could wrap my arms and shoulders in a hot blanket it would feel so good.
i'm not clear of the difference between ra and regular arthritis, but does this sound familiar to anyone who might be able to make a suggestion of what it might be? i'm 60 so it's probably some kind of -thritis????
thanks in advance for any replies.

I've had this in both arms. In my case, it's a tear in the rotator cuff on one shoulder and inflammation of the AC joint in the other shoulder. I'm scheduled for surgery in six weeks to repair the rotator cuff. Arm pain can be a symptom of nerve impingement from a bulging or herniated cervical disk. I'd go see a doctor and find out what's going on. It will ease your mind knowing what's wrong.

Well your age would make it seem like OA, or some other physical problem. Other this would be your lungs can make your shoulder hurt. Or an infection could make them hurt-but i would think other joints would be hurting more.

Hi,
I have had RA for 3 years and I also have pain in the outside part of the upper arm, it can happen when you have ra but can also happen for other reasons. If this persists I would ask your Doctor about it. Have a great day.

I just have been diagnosed with arthritis in my shoulder this past week. My Dr. has put me on Celebrex (2 pills) and Skelaxian before I go to bed. I have very limited range of motion with my left arm even after being on the meds for 8 days. Also a heating pad does help, but (I am also 60) I am afraid it is part of growing older and I don't know that it will ever completely go away.
Advil helped much more than the meds, but I am nervous about taking too many. GigiW

What you have does sound simular to what I have got. But with mine I also get pain that radiates down my bicep. I had scans done on it and I have to say here that it happened to my other shoulder also. But what I have got is calcification of the shoulder. You may well have the same thing. But not being a doctor I wouldn't say I'm right. But it seem very close to what I'm going through. I'm schedualed to have the calcification removed from my shoulder on the 9th of Feb this year. Can't wait even though going through another operation. But its better than have lose of movement. I hope this has shed a little bit of light on to your problem. The Tattman
