Hi everyone!
I am really interested in the IUD, but after going to my gyno she was hesitant to do it since I have not had any children. She would do it but said I have a greater chance of complications. Has anyone on here gotten the IUD before having children?
Thanks!!!
Heather

I have had one for many years, never had children. Only 2 miscarriages, but not problem with iud.

Thanks! What a relief! Which one did you have if you don't mind me asking?

i had an iud and have not had children. i got it because i was on medication for a while long-term, which decreased the effectiveness of the pill. i had it in for 3 years and just got it removed because i have other female issues that came up and i needed to be back on a horomonal form of BC.
some doctors are liberal about giving them out to anymore, but many doctors will be hesitent about giving you one, since yes, it can increase your risk of infections, it can become imbedded.... any number of things. personally, if you can tollerate other forms of BC, i say stick with those. the insertion of the iud was very painful and the upkeep is just worrisome because you need to constantly check the strings, etc. i don't know, i was just a little too paranoid for it, i suppose, but i have to say i am SO glad to have it out.
oh... i should mention... mine was the mirena.
