Hi, my name is alex and I hail from westfield, in, and I am 18... I have never been on an airplane in my life but I think I may have dvt. I am, as some put it, a computer guru... I sit either at home or at my computer in the office every day almost all day, unless I am driving or at school... (both of which is pure sitting). I take energy pills to stay active, alert, and awake... I know there have been a few cases of dvt related to computer people but it was said to be extremely rare...

Anyways, as of like 3 days ago my leg has started to randomly go numb and I though it was just because of the way I have been sitting.... Though its the same as always... I am overweight, I weigh like 380lbs at 18... That is a lot I know... I don't eat as often as expected I guess I am just unlucky... I woke up this morning, not to an alarm or my parents but because my leg felt like it was on fire... I had to move around alot to get it to go away... I was sitting at work and talking to my mom when I was rubbing my leg, due to it starting to numb again, and I felt a small lump on my thigh... I am so worried right now and don't know what to do so please... I need help... Thank anyone who is going to respond soooo much.

HI there, I hope your leg is feeling better. You should go see your family doctor who can order an ultrasound to see if you have a DVT.

hi alex, if i was you i would go get it checked out but don't panic yet. my husband was on disability for a year and was sitting alot at the pc. well 4 months ago he couldn't breath and then 4 hours later he was gone...he had a dvt, he knew nothing about it, it let loose and traveled quickly to his lungs and heart. i did alot of research after that and it seems that this problem is not found 70% of the time. a pulmonary embolism is the main reason of sudden death. these clots can be so small. the medical examiner told me it had to do with his lifestyle of sitting at the pc. you are young, he had just turned 50 but but had no physical problems that we knew of. yes, i am scared too, my calf has been hurting alot every day after work.i now take baby asprin because i am petrified. i don't want to scare you but this is very common this is why hospitals always have that pump on your lower legs after a surgery or if you are just laying in bed. inactivity is the worst thing you can do to your body, this is what the medical examiner told me. i would get it checked out to be safe...wendy
