I too am 19 years old and have been suffering from severe acne for years. I've tried just about everything. Differen, Zoderm gels, zoderm cleansers, erycette pads, doxycycline, tetracycline, you name it. i do get temporary results, but the topical medications require a ton of maintenance. Also, even when i do have "clear" skin, my face is red or oily or dry, or shockingly--both at once. the oral medication has pretty much stopped having any effect since ive been on it (Doxy) for almost 3 years. I do not want to take Acutane, becuase I am afraid of severe side effects. My dermotologist said it was an option, but not necessary since while i have "florid" acne, it is "superficial" and not deep cystic acne (which is what Acutane usually treated).
I went to a gyn recently since i had irregular periods and thought there would be a connection with my skin. She perscribed Yaz birth control and said my acne would really clear up. So far i have been on the pill for over a month and see no change whatsoever. Ive been told that it takes 2-3 months for your body to adjust, but I know of people who have seen results after days.
Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone been on Yaz (this is NOT Yasmin) for the treatment of acne? did it help?

I am not on Yaz, but it took me about 4 to 5 months for me to notice a positive change in regards to my acne. My acne was hormonal and not very bad....just the typical flare-ups right before my period would start. Now, when I take the inactive pills I MAY get a small pimple or two, but it's definitely less noticable and more under control. I would say give it some time.

Good luck!

Please, please, please DO NOT TAKE YAZ I am 28 years old and was on Yasmin for many years and switched to YAZ to have a shorter period and it is HORRIBLE. I can not wait to get off of it and I can compare this to the Accutane because I have also been on Accutane. I did have cyctic acne and regular acne but not horrible, it was more cystic than facial. I know the side affects they say accutane cause, and the hoops that you have to jump through to go on it, but i have had more side affects from the YAZ in 2 weeks then I had on 4 cycles of the Accutane. On the YAZ I have had major vision problems, severe mood swings, headaches and depression and a very decreased libido, I do have an 18 month old and am tired but it's a little ridiculous:dizzy: I know that the pamphlet in the Accutane is a little scary and that is something you need to decide and weigh your options, but it did work, I hope this helped some:wave:

Keep in mind this is only one person. With EVERY pill there are good and bad stories.
